I actually have a spy movie, but it's not really about discovering who the spy is, just more on the life of this one spy-like individual....

who fights off giant robots!

and i am anticipating the hell out of it.

Cliff Hanginator dammit!

wouldnt care because our cameras are better and it depends on who is using not what you're using. but remeber jarred its not about the image right....? its about story and entertainment.

how many people would freak out if I opened up the next DVXfest to Canon users?
It wouldn't bother me. I just want to see some good filmmaking/storytelling by members of the DVXUser community.

I would like it.

Fresh faces and personalities.

And it seems appropriate for Spyfest that Cannies and Pannies would participate because
they are as much Spy Vs. Spy as
Mac and Windows
Vegas and FCP
Cats and Dogs
and well ...
the white and black spy from Spy Vs. Spy.

I think there's a lot of possibilities for Spy-Fest--and probably more lattitude than some people might think.

-An agent employed by a state to obtain secret information, especially of a military nature, concerning its potential or actual enemies. <---The classic spy, we don't need all of the films to be cloak and dagger.

-One employed by a company to obtain confidential information about its competitors. <--This starts to get a little more interesting.

-One who secretly keeps watch on another or others. <--This really blows the genre wide open and I hope some of you consider this option.

Okay, I'm disappointed too, spy just narrows it so much, and I generally don't like them. But...who says it has to be conventional spy? Couldn't you set it in the middle ages, ancient times, WW1, etc? Or make it really good and deal with modern radical Islam and someone infilterating a Jihad movement :-)

I get the unconventional thing. Trust me. I just want to know what else a spy would do aside from collect secret info. I'm pretty stupid and uncreative, so I just have to know.

i expect the rules to be pretty lenient. i wouldn't expect your story would need to be about a professional spy. it could be about someone simply engaged in the act of spying. so even something like Christopher Nolan's "Following" which concerns a writer obsessed with watching random individuals.
