AFTER CLASS - snodart & Tim Young

Nice poster. Like the screenies too.

Man, David is all over this fest. Getting some good publicity and some good words said about him, too. Congrats on that David. I'm looking forward to checking out your acting chops in your various roles this fest.

Good luck, guys.

I took a lighting seminar awhile back with this pro lighting guy. Somebody asked him what is his favorite light is. You know the one he always reaches for. Guess what he said?

"Garage lights. You know, the metal cans with the clips on the end."

He said they have so many uses you should have at least a few with you at all times.

That's awesome.

After Class looks like it'll be fantastic to watch. The poster is great, and the BTS stuff is excellent as well. I like your china ball setup - another thing you can do is stuff power strips full of those plug-in sockets; I picked up a couple of 48" strips with 12 outlets per and stacked a whole bunch of those same 5500K bulbs on it for a huge soft-box style effect, works pretty well. But you're right, one thing to always consider is the weight of the bulbs pulling the plug-in sockets right out of the outlets. I use velcro strips to secure each socket to the power strip.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to your flick.

Thank you Jason. I am really grateful to have worked with so many talented people this fest...there are some great stories here.

The same thing went through my head at first. Luckily, fluorescents use very little wattage. So even the big china ball with 8 lights only uses around 184 total watts (23W X 8). The splitter and adapter are rated at 600W, so you could actually add even more lights (as long as the cord has a high enough rating as well).

Whatever it takes to get it done! I still have our old lighting kit with those lights. The Lowel Omnis have made life much easier though. :) And the China balls too of course.

Dave, how many is it total for Drama-Fest? 4 or 5? I agree with you FatBird, it is well deserved.

Thanks for all the well wishes and comments everyone.

4 at the moment...6 to start but 2 didn't work out. I am lucky I got cast in the winning film this round. :)

Uh Timur, he has more china balls than we do...you wanna get on that?

They did EXACTLY the same thing i did with the china balls. They made a 4 bulb light out of a 1 bulb fixture by double Y splitting. Good work guys. FYI its called a "Civan Array" I patented it like 4 days ago....... ;)

...and one not up on the boards yet.

is that a hint?

as always, I had a great time working with you guys. by the way, does anyone know what happend to the stripper after we left? talk about a fun sequence to shoot...

Thanks for the new comments all.

I should note that Tim was the brains behind the concept of the poster. He just made me do the dirty work (slave driver he is). It's not like he has a busy schedule as an ER doc or anything.

Dave, I can't wait to see you in the other entries. I have a feeling that you will be getting some emails and phone calls after this fest.

Stripper? I thought that was your... oh nevermind.

By the way, Rich was a huge help on our shooting days and headed up the location sound (among other things). Tim and I swapped work with Rich... "you help us with ours and we help you with yours" sort of thing. Anyway, Rich rules and both shoots were a blast.

I am going to see if I can find some more BTS pics to add the the first page...

Thanks Brandon! We were shooting for a late 50's or early 60's look. We considered black and white, but it just didn't work as well.

I added a few
more BTS pics on the first page (third post down). Not much, just a few extras.

Looking good guys. We're going for a 50s look as well...

I just went and checked out the new grabs on your thread. Very cool! it stands out that you all put some hard work into the look.

Yeah, and one of the most important people in getting the look isn't even on this board - our costumer. She hit it right on...
