Foggy Day Footage

I got my DVX just after last winter, so I never got to shoot in the snow. For some reason I enjoy shooting in all the different weather situations like rain, overcast, sun, wind and so on. I never got to shoot in snow, and I highly doubt I will this year If I stay on the east coast. The best thing that nature has to offer this winter in New Jersey is fog, and lots of it. I went playing in the fog and recorded it. Nothing special, just random footage and a lot of out of focus shots, I am trying to get good at turning the focus ring and stopping on a exact number. I also messed with the footage to make it spoooooky. BOOOOOOOOO.

Take a gander if you dare:

omg that was so rad. it seemed like the intro to a zombie movie. I loved the shot out of the car with all the dark twisted trees on the sides. I wish we had more cemetaries like that by us

btw was that Nine Inch Nails on the soundtrack? It sounded like their sound, but i dont remember hearing that track on their albums

just out of curiousity, what kind of "messing" did you do with the footage--- like a sepia/color change or something?

Very nice. Yeah... the soundtrack really made it. It DID seem like a buildup into some sort of zombie/horror flick.

Shots looked VERY clean and crisp. DOF was great... keep it up.

Hi guys,
Sorry this is liek a week later, I posted this then I never saw it show up in this forum so I assumed it messed up and i didnt feel like re posting.

It is a NIN song called Help Me Im In Hell, it is off his album Broken.

To tell you the truth I dont even remember what I did on the computer with the footage. I can tell you that I used magic bullet and did a lot of number changing and comparing to untouched footage until I got them to look spookyish.

The camera was just set on 24p advanced and I just dropped the master ped in the scene file.

I wish i had the time and people to throw some zombies into it, that would have probabaly been cool.

Thanks!

Oh yeah and the ending shot wasnt actually out of a car, i was riding my bmx bike down the middle of the road while holding the camera real close to the ground next to me. So I was riding with only my left hand on the left handle bar which doesnt have a brake lever, fast, down a wet road with the camera in my other hand inches from the ground. Pretty smart isnt it???

jesus! you are nuts! you're lucky the camera didn't bite the road! but you got a fantastic shot. i love the colors throughout and dof. just a bit shaky and dizzying in the 1st half.

I really liked the location a lot. I thought you could have eliminated those zooms at the end, but I thought it was really good overall, it had a crazy eerie feeling to it even thought there was no action.
