"Sample location footage" 720p

Amazing Footage (Although a little shakey). Really moving. Also, the music along with this piece is an excellent choice. People often forget just how much sound and score can make.

What music track is that?

Yeah, for me, music is everything. I choose the music in advance and then edit around the music. I don't think I could work the usual way of cutting the images first then having a composer score to my visuals.

That music is the theme from the anime BERSERK. It's called "Gatsu."

Thanks for sharing this footage! I have questions on the time lapse start shot. Which DSLR, what time interval, does the cam shoot automatically, and how do you make a movie out of these pictrues?

The HVX 720 movie was a good sequence, loved the choice of location, the noise free video, the rich color. Felt the color was just a little over saturated, but that may be my viewing it on a LCD monitor.

Thanks and I look forward to seeing more.

chip did you watch the clip in quicktime or wmv? the quicktime was more saturated for some reason.... having a lot of trouble encoding to .mov.

the timelapse was done on my Canon Rebel XT 350D, with a TC-80 interval timer set for 40-second exposures. To make a movie, you simply import the series of jpegs as an "image sequence" into Premiere or whatever you use.

Indeed, I viewed it on QuickTime. And this monitor is not shy about bringing up colors.

Thanks for the info on the star scene, great stuff.

Hey thanks! I love shooting outdoor stuff. For the feature I mentioned we want to shoot in the Sierras, Redwoods, Tahoe, Zion, Arches, AZ, and Baja.

Settings: Cine-D. We used 1/2 black pro mist for almost all of it. I'm the director; the DP was Chris Ferguson.

Nice stuff. Would it be possible to share the detailed scene settings you used for the portions that are shot with the HXV?

Cheers,

Adam

I would say that the style is what makes the footage so nice. The footage itself looked a bit grainy. The night scene at the beginning looked as if the mountains needed softer edges. A few of the shots were very pro and they made for a nice feel.

Please post your settings. Also, when that guy was on the laptop, how did you move in on the scene like that?

Nice work! Thanks for the vid!

First, I'd like to say 'Hello' to everyone on this forum. This is my first post ever, and I just couldn't resist making a comment on the footage shown here. While everyone is entitled to their opinion, in my heart of hearts this footage just screams 'Film!'. The imagery here, although excessively shaky in some parts, is absoutely Beautiful. If these were only frame grabs from each scene, they could 'stand alone' and STILL result in beautiful imagery. Style or no, the images can hold their own with cameras costing much much more. The grain could very well come from the download compression. It is my opinion that most all the shots looked 'pro'. There's a reason that so many on this thread want to know the settings that Tom used on his HVX. Rightly so. I'm sure this footage will be a "DEAL CLOSER" for some that are on the fence with weather to purchase an HVX-200 or not. Great work Tom, and many thanks for sharing; Cookester7

wow thanks, cooke. people are going to think i registered an alias to praise myself!
Don't worry about that ever happening: First, our join dates to this site don't sync, and most importantly, you and your crew 'earned' this comment. I think that Mr. Hudson gave you the 'Ultimate' praise saying that this was some of the best footage that he's seen from the HVX-200, and he's no joke. I'm sure many on this board are looking forward to viewing more of your work. Again thanks for sharing, and keep up the good work.

i wanted to see if these links are still working? i'm thinking of switching hosts since some people seem to be only able to download parts of the videos for some mysterious reason....

thanks
