Yes I'm afraid I have another adaptor.

Very nice work. thank you so much for sharing it all with us... Nice footage... I like all the imperfections, the arberation, the vingnetting, the flaring- Very subtle as a result of your fine work... But I really dig it.

Cheers,
D

Sorry the thread seems dead, I have a job and we have been busy.

I have made a support arm that attaches to my Cavision rail system.

Ed,
How did you make the piece for your cavasion? You have a machine? Or can anyone make it?

help?

help?

Hello, I am new to this site, I came across this thread 3 days ago, and am still not through the whole thing. I signed up for this site, Just because of this thread. So I'd like to thank all of you for posting so much, and to ED for starting such an interesting and helpful thread.
Anyways, I have been trying to decipher how to make my own ED35 for the past couple days, but as I go through this thread I keep finding more updates and alterations to the model, confusing me further. So I was wondering, if there is some sort of smaller manual or something essayer in order to better understand how to make an ED35?
I would appreciate any help i can get.

welcome jonny. yeah, this site pretty much rocks. for starters, check out snodart's thread Would you pay $30 for DIY vibrating 35mm plans?. justin is also working on putting together a dvd on how to build a vibrating adapter. he's been busting his butt on it for a while now, and last i heard he was testing some motors. the kit is going to include the dvd and a motor.

you might also be interested in the diy plans from redrockmicro.com. i believe they are $45. this is for a spinning adapter. i bought these plans and i'm building my spinning adapter now.

good luck

Thanks Slipchrisp,
These look great, I think I may have to go with the Snod35. Im very excited to get started. Thanks for everyones help (even if you dont know you helped me).

just finished mine..man it sure is difficult composing shots with that upsidedown and backwards image. I'm also having difficulty keeping the nikon screen clean, the step down rings incasing it are really crappy and scrape off black dust every time I screw them in! But the image quality is impressive. Now I just need $1000 worth of lenses and I'm all set!

search through this forum for posts by snodart. i'm not positive, but i think he was the one who found a switch on the dvx that you can move to flip the image. i haven't personally done this, but i know it can be done. sorry i don't have more info.

there is the thread that explains how to flip the image. the thread is in the HVX section although the process is identical for the DVX.
Having the image right-side up does make a huge difference. I have the Letus35 Flip Enhanced and it is a pleasure to look at the image the correct way. It's like putting a filter on your lens. It also increases your workflow and editing process because you're not spending time waiting to render or having to rotate the 180 degrees.

I would say the next step in your exploration of building your own adapter is to figure out a good way to flip the image because it is not worth cracking open an expensive camera and voiding the warranty just to do the screen flip trick. Go buy an inexpensive 7 inch monitor (Xenarc 700V or 700YV, Jensen JTFT-700) instead. You'll want to have a larger picture to help with focus anyway.

Finally got all the parts. got a busted canon SLR for 10 bucks.
Now I need to add spacers to the camera to get to my minimum focusing distance for the original DVX100. Having trouble locating a 47mm hole saw. I may just predrill and use a jigsaw.
Where are you guys getting your magnets from(to flip the LCD)?
vidwerk.

help

Ok I built mine and thought it was gonna be great but when i put it on the camera i noticed an image with alot of vignetting (unacceptable). I tried putting the adapter on without the macro and there is no vignetting and the image is crystal but I just cant zoom in far enough and focus on the screen. Is this a common problem, does the asian macro 72mm just not work, what is the deal. i know I am close and I just want this thing to work.

thanks for any and all replies.
Jason

right now I'm only gettign vignetting from my 28mm lens. the 50mm is:happy: working perfectly for me... which lens were you using?

i am using the 50 but I don;t thinjk it is a problem with the lens I think it is the macro or the distance between the macro and the screen (too long).
