Will RED come with a standard Anton Bauer Snap-On mount?

I already own four brand new Anton Bauer ProPak 14 Gold Mount bricks and a $1,300 Anton Bauer InterActive 2000 4-position charger go with them. I tried a search here already, but couldn't find the answer. It sure would be nice if RED had that familiar old Snap-On Gold Mount, so that I wouldn't have to re-invest in a whole new battery system. Also asked in another thread--estimated power requirement for RED + viewfinder in Watts? Thanks.

Seems like Anton Bauer should hold the responsibility for providing a Red2Anton mount. I'd like Red's battery mount to remain open to 3rd party manufacturers, rather than being a proprietary one.

I am an Anton house so that's my vote. But. I am an open standards guy at heart so the best solution I can think of is to have threaded holes on the RedOne battery bracket that can accomodate a AB Gold Mount plate and other popular options.

Yeah.. I prefer V lock myself.. but im sure there will be either Red Available or 3rd party manufactures to supply power with different mounts... as long as there is a somewhat standard power in port im sure people will be able to go whichever way.

It would be great to see feethrough power as well. If you could plug the battery into one power port and have it fed to other ports around the camera you could avoid running cables all over the place for accessories.

Depending on whether the RED one comes with a moulded battery mount or whether it is removable I would guess it may be possible to tell RED what battery system you want compatibility for (V-Lock, Anton Bauer, Pag) and have it assembled accordingly.

Otherwise you'll be up for an adaptor plate ;)

From memory the IBC mock up photo showed a V-Lock Lithium Ion type battery attached. V-Lock offer up a few more options from name brand manufacturers or Chinese specials, depending on your budget.

Either V-lock or AB can be easily adapted with a plate. We run both systems.

Battery size and how many you will need depends how thirsty the camera is and how you power the offboard LCD screen. Whether the LCD has a similar battery mount (which you would expect) and whether that screen can also be powered off an AB tap (saves having the weight of a battery on the back of the screen) all still to be decided.

I'm sure someone from AB has been in contact with Red to try and get the rights to their mount on the back of the Red(they don't get on cameras by accident :) )

Most cameras have connctions and mounting holes for all major types of battery plate (to which you then mount the battery). I think a similar approach would be handy on RED.

- Mikko ... uses V-lock ... and PAG ... and AB on occasion.
