you are saying a Macbook wouldn't work, right? Not a Mac Book Pro? correct? Or are you saying I'm better off with a G4 Powerbook and a couple of P2 cards? Talk to me !

About what?

The MacBook has a shared RAM video card, and only one firewire bus and no way to add a second one. Apple doesn't support FCP on it, although with 2 Gbs of VRAM, you can install and run FCP on it.

You are better off with solid research, rather than just going to this forum, asking repeated basic questions, and relying other people do the research for you.

There are a bunch of posts on here and elsewhere and all you have to do is do a simple search. There are reviews at creativecow.net, and creativemac on running FCP on a MacBook complete with benchmarks.

Try google and develop skills for learning.

If you want to do it cheap you are better off with a PC laptop, firewire drives and put the savings into P2 cards. Powerbooks are still waaay more expensive than used PC's.
