I got some socks.
I still treasure my lump of coal.

Hopefully they got an extended warranty since if they wait until xmas you will have lost 2 months off it. Hopefully you will appreciate the generosity of your parents.

Now check to see if the box is opened, the used tape in the camera can be used as valuble leverage later next year. That is... if mom and dad were trying it out.

first tony romo gets his date with jessica simpson by simply mentioning he had a crush on her now this maybe i need to start mentioning my crush on jessica alba and the dvx!!

I was looking through my parents closet and I found some whips and chains. But, they weren't brand new.... I don't think they were a xmas present. I'm confused. Why would they have whips and chains in their closet???

:)

Either you're gonna have to act really well, or your parents are definitely gonna realise that you were going through their stuff when you're just not surprised enough as you ought to be upon receiving a DVX at Christmas.

When the camera comes out of the closet...

When the camera comes out of the closet...

Ok, this is evil of me...

When you receive the camera and turn it on for the first time, check the hours on the heads.
It will tell you if it's been doing more than just sitting innocently in the closet. :-BlackEye(DBG

Now you've read this, you can't help it, you will *have* to look. If you don't, you won't be able to sleep at night. The curiosity will eat you up inside, you have to know...

probably what most of us did, look for $hit...such as dirty mags, xmas-bday gifts, guns and other things that dad hid from us..hehehehe....

Uh, what were you doing in your parent's closet?

Following Mikko's good advice. Be certain that you don't load any DV tapes you find just laying around the house or in your mom's dresser drawers.

When you're jonesing for raw-stock, it is always better to go to Walgreens for that cheap Fuji tape that might destroy your camera than to review that half-shot one you found under dad's nightstand.

u'll never look the same at your parents after u watch that "Tape" if they do have3 one..lol.. THERAPY for the rest of your life..lol.....

also another note, when u do start shooting after u get your dvx...make sure u use one brand and stick to it..... so dont mix and match sony and panasonic...

Heh Mikko...

But man if you were hinting at the DVX and it seems youve got it, should have started higher up. Maybe its not too late : yeah mom do remember I was saying I wanted a HVX............

Or when you open up your presents: Oh wow mom thats great, but you got the wrong model I NEED THE HVX, this one only works in Japan.

Lol ncje.

This thread got me to thinking for some reason. When people buy used cameras, what about the tapes they use then. Would it generally be a no no to buy a camera that you didn't know the brand of tapes the previous owner used? I wonder how many people actually think about that when they are buying a camera used, or if it ends up being an afterthought.

Now this might not be nice, but, I would steal it from the closet (and take some other stuff to make it look legit) and then when they replace it and give you another DVX. Sell the first one and buy lights, mics (not sure what the Mikko's joke was?), tripod, etc.

You would be on the "bad santa" list but he shoots sony anyway...
