COUNTDOWN: Epic Action Film (60+ People)

FUN TIMES!!!
All the parents died and now the world is populated exclusively by 16 year olds with huge guns!

Once you change the blending mode from 'normal' to 'add' or 'screen' you'll see a world of difference in how the muzzle flashes look. You should only see the light, not the dark halo around the outside.

This movie looked very fun to create. Good job! I felt sorry that the girl died, she was the best character...

It was edited on Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0 and color corrected on color finesse. We discussed the looks we wanted online, and bumped concepts to each other over msn. The lighting was a mixture of practicals and worklights, and a 1000 watt floodlight. We also used reflectors alot to keep it under control.

The camera setting on the dvx was set at a default f6, with most of the looks created in post

It's great that you've done what you've done BUT nothing will take you out of a story quicker than unbelievable acting. I'm sorry but your actors are just too young to pull it off. I understand that you wanted to do something with a bit more meat to it but if you can't get age-appropriate actors you'd be better off adjusting your story to fit the actors you have available to you.

very nice work. you have a lot of potential if you can come up with such a production at 16 years of age. When most 16 year olds are busy in useless non-sense crap, you are investing your time in something concrete and yet fun...

congrats... would love to see your work in the future as well

I understand where your'e coming from...and we're hoping to use this as a starting point actually. Now that we've proven that we can do it, we're hoping to use this production to attract investors in future or grants.

Hey yeah I would've liked to use older actors but we're 16 and stuff and don't know that many adults that would be willing to do this kind of things like our friends would haha.

HI, sorry I'm late on contributing to the thread...

You guys rawks.. I shown my friends in KL and they were gunsamazed and totally flabbergasted on how we manage to pull off such big scale shortfilm with lotsa guns and chaos and still manage to make the end product look sweet... :D

by the way Guns, airguns, or even gun-replicas are BAN in Singapore

As a result of an acute shortage of replies and views to this post and shamless thread bumping by our own crew, I've decided that perhaps the big ass download and laggy google videos are taking their toll on viewership (Or lack thereof)... So I decided to do a trailer:

Countdown Trailer

Hopefully *fingers crossed* there'll be a greater incentive to watch the film now

Eeeee ....... youtube sucks. So hard to see anything with all the compression going on. Seemed pretty good. Might want to drop you music overlay down a few DB so its not killing the dialogue.

"Where are the drugs?"

"What are you talking about?"

"I'm not going to repeat myself. Where are the drugs?"

(3:14 - 3:25)

Come on.

Still, impressive that you were able to control such a large production in high school, I couldn't have done it.

BLT, if you recompress your film, please consider XVID or H.264, and correct the aspect ratio for proper viewing. A bittorrented episode of Lost is about 250MB and looks better than your file. After all your hard work, you want your viewer's experience to be as good as it can be!

Send me a PM with your address, I'd like to send you a free copy of my book—you guys could really make use of the guns section, as well as the color correction stuff!

well done

well done

Well done to you guys!! whatever anyone says - you are making films and at your age you are going to go places if you just keep trying.

I like your use of different angles and some of the closeup shots, all helps in keeping the viewers eyes engaged.

Am in Singapore - if I can help let me know.
You need to get this file compressed as soon as possible so it will be easier for people to downlaod.
What software do you use? you should use Sorenson squeeze or Compressor (FCP)

All the best and keep up the spirit - Singapore needs guys like you!

I loved this film! The only thing I found annoying was the gunfire. You're better off going with Artbeats than Alam DV (or whatever it's called now) for your gun effects. How much did you spend on this. I'm in the process of finishing up a martial arts action feature now, I'm probably going to post about it today or tomorrow but your stuff was tight.
