life sucks

I and many others have been through what you're going through right now and most come out on the right side of the coin, but that's really up to you.

I've said it before, but it's how you respond to situations like you're facing right now that define who you will be when you "grow up". :)

Drink some nectar and come back with a rational mind, with the heart locked away for a while.

J.

PS-don't jump.

Man, if you're in your school years, you've still got a whole life ahead of you which many of us older folks wish we could get back. This means many years and years of possiblities where anything good can happen. Don't ever look at your present situation with myopic eyes and think things won't get better or unforseen opportunities won't arise.

And don't beat yourself up when circumstances seem to stack up against you. Time is something that solves many problems and you've still got it so don't throw it away.

Very well put. Just when I was thinking life was slipping away and wasn't getting better it started to get better and hasn't stopped since.

i just want this camera--shoot sum kick ass green screen stuff and other stuff-- add some cool d f/x shoots here and there...

Get any camera you can get your hands on and learn your craft. Please don' t make yourself miserable over not having what you want.

Try getting severly hurt prepping a commercial shoot then subsequently losing four years of your life, REAL feature work, MASSIVE opportunities, your home, at least $500,000 in wages (and rentals) and most importantly what YOU LOVE TO DO. :crybaby:

Now, govindaBLU, If I can dig myself out of this hole, you can too. It is all a matter of perspective. Don't let the lack of money, writers block, f@CKsticks, etc. get you down. Adapt and overcome.

Use this time in school to make all the contacts, work on student films, etc. . Just get after it anyway you can and make it happen. Things will change. Make mistakes and enjoy the process. Here is a link to something that will get your head straight so you can go create.... Seriously, read it, you will thank me.:)

I just finished a series of test shots and composites for a spec-commercial I'm going to shoot in March. It's not a finished product so I cut a lot of corners. I needed a sillouete, so I shot myself against window blinds with a DVX-100 (what I had handy) on its side to get close to enough resolution (2k composite). I had forgotten just how bad DV was. It's not even worth the effort. If it's not at least 4:2:2, I don't care anymore. Here's to 4k 4:4:4ish.

I think the RED is going to be an excellent rental to shoot Green Screen footage for 35mm products. The shallow depth of field will also be beautiful for picking up elements out in the field like trees and plants etc against a blue sky. That's one of the strugles I have with the HVX, trying to get the sky out of focus for a more even "blue screen".
