How about skipping the genre specification and do a theme/plot thingie?

Come up with a sentence describing...whatever...and let people run with it, whether they choose to do it as SciFi, Horror, Western, Comedy, Drama...

Example: "This just doesn't seem to be my day."

You've probably got at least three ideas flying around your brain right now, yes?

Or, maybe this is stupid, cause it would be boring to watch over and over -

one script for everyone to follow - would be fun to see different variations, but watching the same story 60 times ...

It's not stupid. But it did get a little...difficult...to watch last time we did it. Had to break up the viewing sessions to keep from being unfair to the filmmakers.

Has Jarred weighed in on this thread yet? Can the DVXUSER community vote for the next "fest"?

Well, I think spoof fest for fun. I wouldn't want that on my reel either, as Aram says. For the next CONTEST, I think comedy would be a good one.

How about this idea - tho' I'm sure it's too ambitious...A DVX User collaboritive feature!

We've all seen/read stories/movies that involve one object being passed down into different hands as centuries pass...with each generation being a separate short story involving different people...because of which, each time period can be made separately.

So, maybe have someone make a rough outline of like "a cursed gem" or something, that's passed down through ten generations and time periods.

Assign one time period to 5 filmmakers per, then string the best entries per time period and splice them together into a feature and submit it to festivals as a collective feature.

Hell it doesn't even need to be time periods - it could be like ten different people getting this object passed down in a span of a few years in modern times.

We'd just need to find an object that's easily accessible to everyone so it matches for each film.

Actually a spoof would be so freaking awesome. I'd do Dead Mans Chest

- Glanced around the DVX Forums for a moment. -

Anyhow, yeah. I'm designing a small script for a spoof of DMC. Just the climax. Basically taking the micky out of the film on a 0% budget. That would be awesome.

Spoofest! Spoofest! Spoofest! Spoofest! Spoofest! Spoofest! Spoofest!

Woooooooot!

EDIT - By the way, Is It just me, or Is It since I posted this thread/poll theres been millions of polls on the Horror Fest forum? Or Is that just me...

Hey, I'm glad to see that Spoof Fest is getting some consideration here!

I think that it would be a blast. So many possibilities! And no worries about being original! hee hee

SPOOF FEST!

I personally think a musical fest would be amazing. It would take incredible amounts of work. But it would allow for a cross between music and video. I think it would be much fun, not only to write and produce, but to watch. Talent, or lack thereof could result in some spectacular entries.

I missed out on Horror fest because I still don't have the money for a DVX. I am working on it though. Almost there! haha.

I actually voted drama but, now I'm reconsidering giving Ted the advantage. *wink, wink*

Seriously though Drama would be perfect but, I'll take comedy too!

If my voice count, i also voted for Comedy, but i'm seriously thinking more Drama or Romantic Comedy, that is something i'd like to do.

I think Psynema's idea is great but would require a lot of co-operation on working out the time span's and who get's which ones (and would it work if there was gaps in between if people didn't finish it). The other problem would be finding an object that was readily available to everyone that wasn't something really simple like a pencil or roll of toilet paper (which could have continuity problems:).

I'm think the idea of having a similar object that would basically work as a macguffin in everyone's movie even though the stories would be different. It would be fun to see how everyone works it in.

i wish i had voted for drama now!

i went for comedy but im rethinking... Humour's very culture specific and not very universal. I think I'd get banned if i made a 'comedy'....

drama.... drama ....

I didn't know there was such interest in doing an action/adventure? I guess it's a
logical step for this forum as a trend maybe...?

Spoof Fest!!!!

But I love the idea that Psynema posted. Very Intriguing idea! A lot of planning, but that would be some funny stuff to watch! Just the continuity as each filmmaker applies their own spin. Very cool idea.

Spoof Fest!!! (I still think that this would be a blast!)

This thread and poll have been running for a while. Do we know if Jarred and the other mods take this in to consideration?

Horror-fest isn't even finished. Give it some time. People worked hard to get the H-fest entries in and everyone should have time to review and play in the threads before we move on to another fest.

They've all probably peeked at it.

Also, I'm dreading anything longer than 6-minute runtime. The majority of the entries this go around were WAY TOO LONG!

I think ninety percent of my reviews stated that they needed to be recut for time. Not that I'm the authority on it, but I really think six minutes is enough time to accomplish things in.

Negatives of longer runntime:

-File Size
-Time it takes to review each movie
-Negative strike against those who put me through hell for an entire X amount of minutes.

Pray for six minutes, I'm voting for the standard 5 minute format next fest around.

Everyone likes to see action. I also think it's because a lot of us can't handle straight out drama, much less in a shorter timespan. I for one would be afraid of being ripped into halves with the word "pretentious".

I can't say that I'd enjoy seeing action/adventure, either. I forsee a lot of airsoft pstols and office locations. Though I can say this forum has been good for avoiding lightsabres and laserguns.

Musical or Comedy both have my vote.
