Draco by Ian & Gord Taylor

Haha, Actually we were sitting here right now talking about posting a clip of the actual shoe tree that our shoe tree is based on. My brother has been collecting clips and sais it has arms like my man-in-tree, so, haha, if he's gets that up I'll give you a PM and let you know it's here. Oh, he just sais he's scheduled for an interview about the actual history behind the shoe-tree next week. So maybe he'll compile something interesting.-gordo

edit: You may also want to check out 'mecontentement' by Inexistence. Won't give it away if you have not seen it yet.

more edit: No plans to do anything else in the future.

Hopefully I'll have a few grabs of the SHOE TREE on Thurs .

Thanks Gord for answering the questions . I've been way too busy the last few days .
This shoe tree does have an eerie resemblance of our tree ..which you'll see later this week .
The first clip Gord did of the fetus(baby) in the tree looked great . it grew from a Knot into the Baby ..Awsome!!!
Thanks everyone for your thoughts on the clips.

I enjoyed watching this film. Some very nice VFX. Sound was it's weakest attribute.

The story was a mess but I understood it and it was fun to watch.

The editing was all over the place but at times very effective.

The cinematography was pretty good. Got to be tough to shot at night like you did.

Again, the VFX rocked! I loved the tree!

Congrats on your film. Very entertaining!

Ted

Thanks Ted. I appreciate the comments and take them all very serioulsy.

I've been thinking about taking all of the the feedback and what I've learned and spending the next few months re-editing this to where I originally wanted it.
It would be around 12 min and would undergo a major overhaul in all area's. For one, Paul as a demon was supposed to be entirely cg. We shot the night scenes with and without actors for that reason. I'd redo the cut CG that shows what happens to his body after being dumped behind the shed to support the story, fix the sound and alot of other stuff.

I am also thinking maybe I should just leave it alone and let it live out it's life for what it is. Probably I'll do both. -gordo

-And definitly put 'jpbankesmercer' is charge of Tags. (see above).

This film was f*cking genius! Not Godard genius, but like, Dread Zeppelin type genius. I calling all my friends to come over and get stoned and watch this flick. Very Monty Python-esque. Some people might think I'm crazy, but this is one of the most original fims I've seen in the fest.

This may not be the most technically adept film of the bunch, the acting wasn't that great, etc. etc. BUT, I'm giving this one 10's across the board just so I can give it the 10 it deserves as a whole. Extremely entertaining. You've got everything in here but the kitchen sink and put a twist on it. I've showed this one to just about everybody I know and they either get it or they think I'm a nut. Dude, I get it!

I'm buying the HorrorFest DVD just for this film. Obviously one of my favorites.

Many Thanks John for the Compliment .

I must add here John's was also excellent !!!!

lmao...I showed this to my Brother and I think he fell out of the chair .

I really must add here this was Gords first time using Vegas or matter of fact , first time editing!!

This was also his first time doing animation stuff .

I did the camera work , both did the lighting , I did the colour correction and tried to offer advice at times .
I think this turned out great for his first one and our working together as well .

Thanks again John

Well, there you go. It was simply the AMBITION of this project that made it great. Because it wasn't like, okay let's do something like an Ent from LOTR, it was like, let's have a f*cking bark baby squirming out of the trunk!

Okay, for the sake of your brother, let's just call it "accidental" genius. :)

Uhhh...I think I missed something. Time to watch it again. I was a little lost. Maybe it's getting late.

I really liked the old man at the end.

But again, I had no idea what the hell was going on. Sigh...

Yeah, I was right there too the first time through. But man is it worth another few viewings...

i think its like rocky horror picture show. either you "get it" or you dont. The Fans this movie developed, is similar to me and Movie masters "the Awakening". its Lowbudget and cheesy but i love it.

I am keep wathcing this one, but i am missin that thing that makes it special to all these people.... God i wanna see what the big X factor is.

I like the tree with fingers in the begining BTW. that was awesome.

My brow is deeply furrowed as I try to figure this out.

Perhaps my objectivity is lost in watching so many deadly serious movies here on dvxuser.

I still love the man at the end.

And Canadian accents are all oot hot.

I'm leaving it at that.

I get it, I think. Or at least I enjoyed the WTF factor of it. Also, the effects were very cool. I particularly liked when the dead guy transformed just for the big jump. That was cool and probably necessary to achieve that jump. I think that's an example of a limitation working to your advantage. This was a funny movie for me and I will watch it again for the laughs and to look more closely at the effects.

Not everyone will like every film just as in music.
I don't expect everyone to like this one.
Some like the humour.

Mr.Dragon is the guy in the final scene.
Maybe others can try looking at this as a deliberate series of manipulations by Mr.Dragon. Is he actually at the camp observing everything? Was that him in the water pulling on the fishing line and is that why the dog ran away? Why did he give such bad instructions and did he have anything to do with a leak in the tank?
He is collecting shoes of dead people and has all of the money.

The two guys work for Mr.Dragon and have just finished doing a 'job' for him.
They were told to go to the camp and lay low. The story begins from there.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. Cheers. -gordo.

Gord is correct here ..also listen to the conversation between the 2 and with Mr Dragon .
I might add the begining clip shows a guy running thru the woods ..why?
Then you see him searching for something .What? ( Just like the SHOOTER before the branch gets him.)
Then he sees the BLOOD dripping..and he's gone ..story begings with new guys .

There are clues here ..look very closely at the rack scenes and see what if you can see .
Like Gord said is Mr Dragon there?
This is kinda like those movies if you sneeze you may miss something .
Thanks everyone for your comments
