I just watch this and ummm theres alot going .not sure what to make of this .i'm gonna go watch it again.. difinatly not boring

Review | POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT! I watch the movies first time around strictly for enjoyment, second and third for review.

Please. PLEASE Do not take this the wrong way. But this was the funniest entry in the fest so far. I outright died laughing and I watched the ENTIRE thing. I swear I broke out laughing. I had tears running down my cheeks.

Script - I don't know what it was about. I have no idea. And I kind of don't want to know. I am hoping it was comedy, because I'm going to feel like such an ass for laughing so hard. The dialogue was so freaking funny. "Why'd you shoot me?". Omfg I just snorted laughing. Antother classic line:

Man: What is it boy?

Dog: - runs off -

Man: You're not afraid of a fish are y?

Direction - Man, way to use what you had. The plastic/stone duck reappeared many times. And it was interesting how you made the actor go back into the shadow so the CG monster could leap out. Lots of static camera angles. I think I would've died harder if you had dolly shots and cranes going on.

Acting - You know in the beginning? THe guy with the hat on started up with good line delivery. Then he started going down hill... and it was hilarity after that. I really just dunno what happened.

Cine/Lighting - I CAN say that your nighttime scenes were lit well enough for me to see the crazyness. But the colors are washed. Was that done on purpose?

Editing - Whoo boy. I didn't get enough time to see what the heck that was wiggling in the treet but I was like "wtf"? Gotta sew it all together in a pleasant, non-distracting fashion.

Sound - Man. Here again, I hope I'm not being an ass. It really seems that this was supposed to be a comedy. So the deep voices made me laugh really... really hard. It was just so casual... "Why'd you shoot me?". The Score fit the whackiness well.

Special Effects - I dunno what you were using, but I cracked up when he punched through the outhouse wall. And your actor bolted for the woods. Looks like some CG went on. I am in tears again. I just remembered the scene where the guy gets shot in the back of the head. It was so funny how he just blasted his brains onto the camera.

Scariest Moments - The part where I couldn't see what was wiggling in the treet. I was like "Wtf was that?".

Overall consensus - Please PLEASE don't take this the wrong way but it was so funny. I'll have that line stuck in my head for days. I wish I had someone around to share it with, it'd make a good inside joke. Thanks for the laugh, man. If it was serious, I'm really sorry for saying all of this and I hope you forgive me.

I agree this was pretty funny, but had a definite B-Movie funny vibe to it, like Re-Animator. My favorite part was where he tried to unlock the 3 ft high fence, and when he couldn't, didn't think to jump over it.

Also, I've seen Jurrasic Park enough times to know you NEVER hide in the out house.

I was entertained.

And even if you didn't mean for it to be funny, look at it again. Sometimes things figure out what they want to be, rather than you telling them what to be.

The thing wiggling in the tree was the hand of the tree-man who came back at the end.

I couldn't tell though, for a bit there, the tree man was jumping around, chasing him, then the dead guy came out. But the tree-man held the dead guy at the end.

Like I said, I was entertained, and it was a fun ride.

Man I had to watch this again. That makes five times.

I agree with Mark: if it wasn't supposed to be funny, take another look at it and tighten it for what people think it is. I swear I cried every time I watched.

The part where he fell back from fishing and the hand came up and "got him"... I laughed soooo hard.

Man this one is great.

"What the ****'s this, a *&*&^ trap? You ****ing kidding me?"

Oh yeah, and why did he go fishing right after killing the guy?

ROFLMFAO. "What are you going to do, stone me to death wtih pine cones?"

OK, now you got me laughing out loud. just reading that line here. I thought some of the effects were damn creepy. The tree man was cool. And that jump from the shadows rocked. The deep voice didn't seem funny to me, but actually sorta creepy. The whole thing was a bit random, though, and running and hiding in the out-house did make me chuckle.

I had to show my girlfriend. She died. That's six times for me. Most watched Video for me too man.

"...Sunshine girl. Hey come look at this."

Sound-FX: PAP!

I should've clarified: It's not the deep voice but what the deep voice says and how he says it. It's just VERY casual. "So, why'd you shoot me?"

Or: "You better tell me if you want to live."

I can't type about this without cracking up.

Thanks. Thank God you saw the humor in it. It was intended. Some other lines were cut for time reasons. As for what it is about, well, I will comment on that in a few days I guess. Your nice comments just made my day. Wasn't sure if I was loosing it (haha). -Thankx -gordo.

Oh, and as for the shooter's acting, well that would be the directors fault. Which is me. He is really very good. It was my first time directing and well... (He's gonna kill me.)

Ok...thank god people say its funny already coz I'd feel bad to be the first one to say this.

Technically, the sound levels IMHO were all over the place.
The voice of the dead guy/demon is not really clear sometimes so I couldnt make out his lines.
The acting was....well in an Ed Wood style...when the young guy is hung he is about to laugh and he definitely doesnt seem that scared.
The VFX was funny as well.
One thing...when the guy enters the cabin, he uses his lighter to use the mobile...but ...silly me...dont all mobiles have screens with their own light and light in the key pad? I know you probably did the lighter to light up the scece, am I wrong?

1/ Yes the sound was not quite there. I should of ran compressors & noise gates on the tracks. Was pressed for time. music was slapped in with 1 1/2 hrs to deadline.

2/ Yes, in that scene we had to take a few breaks because we just had a hard time taking it seriously.

3/ The lighter was used to light the scene, in theory. Your right about the cell having built in lights. In fact, I mentioned to the guys before we shot the outhouse scene that I may not even use it because it was just so silly but ultimatley I chose to as silly as it was.

Also, in the final shot with Mr.Dragon speaking to the tree, well I was holding up the tree but had to leave because I was laughing too hard and kept ruining the shots. That's kind of how things went.

In addition: The scenes are pretty choppy, even to a noob like me. The original footage flowed together much smoother but I underestimated length of scenes and ran overtime. I hope to re-edit a longer version for friends with the orig stuff. But yes, it is all over the place.

-Thanks for your comments. Hope this helps. -gordo

Oh and something else, that big explosion MAN!!! MACGYVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was like WHEN IS IT GONNA START!!!!! AND SINGING THE TUNE!!!! TA TA TA TA TA TA

haha...MACGYVER? Yeah, actually it wasn't meant to have that, just cg fragmentation & blood, but I set the blood amount to something like 2000 drops with spawn trails and when rendered, it actually caused so much shadowing that it just sort of looked black. So, I yanked out the ol trusty hercules avi. for extra measure.

edit:
Since so many people don't know what to make of this short, let me maybe clarify what I set out to do:
I wanted to make it entertaining first. I wanted to make it humourous. I wanted it to have a story.
I am not capable of writing a full bore comedy that I know of. But again, it IS absolutely supposed to be humourous, I'm just surprised how funny some think of it. I am not a film-maker but since I'm in this fest, I will stand here and take what comes my way, and try to explain so let it fly. Would love to comment on the storyline although I think some want to think about it for awhile first.
So if you feel like laughing, please do. If not, thats okay too. -gordo

Dude, you accomplished it so well.

I can't even freaking think about it without laughing. I messed up a photo out in the studio thinking about that line.

"Why'd you shoot me?"

Thankx. Nice to see you back. I sent Desperate a PM explaining his question about why fishing after killing but think the link died first. Can't believe your still chuckling. Your making me laugh now. -gordo
