Spartacus,

If you have the time, zip-up the P2 contents. Then break into less than 1GB chuncks (there are free tools that can do this), then send each chunk via www.yousendit.com. This is will take a while to upload, but it is a fast way for us to see the problem.

Spartacus,

Another idea. Are you converting directly from the P2 media? If so try copying to data to your media drive first. Are you converting inplace, or to a different directory then you MXF files?

As it is not the compression, in must be the YUV overlay surface itself. I never heard of them being extra noisy. Sorry, I don't know any more about this one. Here is a trick to force playback not to use the overlay:
Open any video clip in MediaPlayer and pause on a frame -- now that M.P. owns the one overlay surface, leave M.P open so that playback within Premiere is forced to use desktop RGB. Does this look any different?

David, I would be lost without your help. Thanks once again , this trick worked perfect: Noise and artifact gone, I finaly can see my image perfectly clear, as I expected it should be !

I was wondering, having MediaPlayer open all the time wouldnt afect PPRO performance ?

I own you a beer

Only slightly, nothing you should worry about. Looks like we need to put in a control to disable the overlay for particular NVidia cards -- then I'll have that beer.

Deal !

And I finaly uderstood how to disable overlay in media Player too, Tools/Options/Performance/Advanced "Use high quality mode" instead of "Use overlays" wich of caurse I have to change back each time I work with PPRO in order for your trick to work. Anyhow this tip of yours is major for my workflow, my image is at least 1000% better then before in any way. I am ecstatic !

David,
just rechecked the other clips, some of them have missing audio after half the playing time...
Am I the first one to encounter this?
As said the clips play right in the P2 viewer, they are 720p25.
I really appreciate your offer of sending you the files, as soon as I get some time off, I´ll try to do it...
Thanks!

Yes this is new information, and I would love to get to the bottom of it. Is there a chance the missing data is on another P2 card?

To clarify:
The Data on the P2 card is complete. When opening the MXFs in P2 Viewer, video and sound are there.
After converting the MXFs (which are located on the computers HD, but I also checked direct conversion off the P2 cards...) some of the created CineForm AVIs lack an audio signal after some time of HAVING one.
The AVI plays for some time with both video and audio, and suddenly the audio is gone and only the video plays on...
With one track there is something special: either it aborts the conversion after some megabytes (log message: EC_Errorabort 0x80040228) leaving 7 seconds of video AND sound, or it completes the whole MXF clip, without including the audio (BUT with delivering the 3/4 channel audio .wav)
And this same MXF plays flawlessly in the P2 viewer...

I´ll try to sent them to you tomorrow, we´re near midnight here and I still got work to do...
Thanks again for the fast response!

Can anyone recommend me the optimal format/settings for DVD output from Premiere or Adobe Media Encoder? I checked out Cineform's knowledge-base article on DVD creation, but the results it gives me are often blurry or has this ugly interlacing/scan-line effect. The source footage I'm working with is 720 24pN 16.9 scaled to 1280x720. Thanks

OK, I need the media to solve this.
I had this same problem a few weeks back when I last shot. Was shooting in 720p50 mode. I'm pretty sure it wasn't on clips spanned over 2 cards. I've still got the P2 folders backed up somewhere, but I could try and reproduce the problem.

I think it also happened with some of the clips that I captured as avis with the beta DVCrack then ran through cineform (you remember the header tweak?) I spent a while trying to figure out if there was any pattern or fixed time it would happen after but didn't see anything.

As I was in a rush to edit I think I ended up bringing the audio into my edit seperatly, I can't remember exactly. I'm away from my edit PC at the moment.

I think this appeared in v4.13

Aspect HD 4.2 now in public beta

Aspect HD 4.2 now in public beta

It has been a while between versions, a whole two months. :) But we have been very busy preparing the new versions of all our products. So here is a first look at Aspect HD 4.2. All existing Aspect HD users are welcome to download it from here : http://www.cineform.com/downloads/AspectHDv420b65beta.zip

This is just some of what has been enhanced :

• New scaling algorithms, particularly for enhanced interlace SD exports. DVD exports from HD projects have never looked better.
• Desktop and Overlay controls now work as they should. Desktop mode corrects NVidia level shift issues (ATI works best with overlay on.)
• HDLink now supports conversion of common media types (now most files that play with Media Player can be converted with HDLink.) You good DV, WMV or any miscellaneous AVI (some MOV) files can now be batch converted into CineForm Intermediate.
• HDLink now supports resizing of all sources to standard HD sizes. Previously you could up-convert SD, or any non-standard image size.
• Added aspect ratio control for CineForm SD media (rendering to 16x9 SD now imports as 16x9)
• Enhanced compression quality even further (across all encoding modes.)
• Added 23.976 to 25p conversion within the HDV capture controls for PPro.
• Added de-interlacing and resizing options to Premiere Pro's HDV capture (to match the controls in HDLink.)
• HDLink fix for long file batch M2T to AVI conversions
• Fixed audio corruption that can occur with an interruption of Premiere’s audio conform
• Many many other small fixes and refinements

Of course never run a beta if you are in the middle of a project, otherwise please give the new feature a try and tell us if you have any issues.

Thanks,

Hi David,
Very impressive upgrade !
Any installing instructions ? Do we have to uninstall the previous version ? What about the registration codes etc

Andreas

For existing Aspect HD licenses you can simply upgrade, although we do recommend un-installing Aspect HD first before put in the new verison. No new registration is required, the license simply transfers as it will in any non-major upgrade.

Hey David,
could this have been the problem with my file that would`t convert the audio data to the .avi ?

David

I have upgraded to the 4.2 beta. My DVCPRO50 files are still being interpreted by Premiere (or Media Player) as 4:3 files instead of 16:9. I was told that this was one of the upgrades in 4.2. Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks.

roro20, that is a fault of the DVCPRO50 decoder not reporting it aspect ratio correctly, so when we convert we have to take a guess. The actual fix for SD 16x9 was on Premiere Pro SD exports to CineForm AVI, where the aspect ratio was written correctly.

Still, we will try and have another look at DVCPRO50 to see it they is a work-around (other than using interpret footage.)

It is possible. Delete all your "Conformed Audio Files" and reload that project.
