So far the Sony 4K projector has been mostly used to show 4K transfers from film.

AuditoryVisuals said:Yes it's a good idea, but it should be a last resort. If we do that, it will carry on all the defects of film, all the grain, scratches (etc.). Using the JVC projector is a good idea though too, but I don't think that can be negotiated in that short time :/.

We contracted with IBC to rent the theater for our 4k presentation and were told that Sony was donating the 4k projector (the only company that has one) for us to use. All was fine until two days ago. We were informed by IBC that we (RED) would not be allowed to show our footage on Sony's machine. Sony has known for several months that we were scheduled to present on their machine. Unfortunately, that doesn't give us much time to recover. But we are not giving up.
We have calls in to Sony to try to understand what happened and hope that this all is some kind of communication error. The IBC is also trying to get to the bottom of the situation. It is particularly difficult for us because we have worked so hard to get the footage ready for this event. We successfully previewed our footage on a Sony 4k projector in LA last week. We are ready. It is my humble opinion that our camera is a perfect match for Sony's projector. And a mutual presentation would be in the best interests of both companies and the future of the industry.
Let's not panic quite yet.
