Jim Jannard at work

Well, I think 9.875 is conservative, and is from test footage on a test sensor, that we're still in the process of calibrating and we're still working on the image processing chain etc. Basically, that's 9.875 out of the door, off the bat. Anyone actually seen RAW sensor data from a camera - truly raw, before it's been played with. It can look nasty. Surprisingly, RAW RAW from the Mysterium actually looks pretty good, which is why our test stuff looks 9.875. Once we get it all calibrated and all that, we're going straight for a Spinal Tap 11.

Blah, blah, test sensor, blah blah, calibrating... Too many excuses. I'll bet it's cause they can't figure out how to make it look as good as DVX footage. Betcha the footage at IBC will look like 28 Days Later.

Joking aside, this is so thoroughly exciting, I can't stand it. "Super movie" my butt! I want to see Jessica Alba in 4K!!!

Good news Graeme! What WesVasher didn't qoute was the second half of my "What 9.985?" quote. Here's the second half of my quote:

"Yeah but this camera goose to 11."

The sales slogan for the sales team at IBC.

Sounds good to me. I have no doubt that when everything is said and done. And you show RED next to 35mm and don't tell anyone witch is witch I don't think they could tell. There is going to be allot of pepsi challeng moments to come or should I say the RED Challenge. By the way coke is better. :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

"you show RED next to 35mm and don't tell anyone witch is witch I don't think they could tell."

i've always had the feeling that RED wants you to see the difference ..
as in film is a 10 and RED is a 11 or higher (depending on the mode you shoot )

We are only just hitting September and you guys are going nuts!!!

When my wife wants me to listen she just mentions the word Red :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

What in the hell is this Red forum going to be like as we near December

I can just imagine a certain colourful person doing a sequel of the terminater portrait of Arnie with jim Jannards head and the Red one ready for action.

Dont forget to add the big (smoking) cigar along with the smoking Red one.

FOUR MONTHS...................TO DECEMBER

lol Mike, my gf does the same thing, except for the fact that everytime I'm on set or if we're out and about and I start rambling on about RED with someone she gets pissed.....Women always want to be the center of attention.

My wife was with me when I interviewed Jim Jannard for my published interview with him. She thinks Jim is way cool. She backs me 110% on my getting a RED camera, has been my Production Coordinator for the past 14 years (of my 27 year career) as we worked all over the world, and can't wait for us to get our RED camera and start shooting with it!!

She's also a good photographer, good cook, good person, and nice looking!

I know...lucky guy to have a woman like that...and I sure think so too...

***sips his Guinness*** Resist the urge to fly to Amsterdam. No it's not the Redlight district babe, it's the RED camera 4K footage unveiling. No, wait, don't throw my stuff out the window ! Giving girlfriend my credit cards as a precaution, putting "Patience is a Virtue" sign above the desk.:laugh:

4K is a milestone fo' sure. And the images that RED produces will give us a better general idea of where we stand (although I know sensor/processing tweaks etc.. will still need to be done).

Nice to be on the ground floor of this one (if RED delivers to spec).

Edit : Gibby, my ex-girlfriend is my co-producer/co-business owner, but it works (most of the time). RED's potential is one thing that we both are excited about... Good stuff.

RED# wish I was higher

Wow, his secret for workflow has just broke loose. Get a Mac Pro.

I wonder what kind of software he's using? It doesn't look like any NLE I ever saw.

This is about the only place I know where other guys will marvel at another guy sitting in front of a computer ( well, it is a MAC!) in a cubicle and be utterly captivated because it has an image frame on the screen.

Dont' forget the Cigar!!!

Lucky man indeed Gibby and NOW your wife's just turned Red:Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

D and G, i laugh when i see that saying "patience is a virtue" its my sirname motto. Needless to say i don't have much patience:(

..wow. that image looks great fro something still in the works.
and speaking of Jim's passion, i wonder if subconsciously that has to do with why the camera is called RED. certainly the color is synonimous with passion. at any rate, im glad your working on it Jim. we need more people like you around who care about more than making something simply functional.. but making something an amazing work of art. after all, thats what filmmaking is all about. and now.. get back to Yo work.. no slacking.. were all waiting for you.. ;)
