Smuggler's Ransom- OFFICIAL THREAD

Mark just sent me some incredible stuff showing how he's transforming a day shot to a night shot. Pretty neat deal... He explains each step with each image. Enjoy!

Actually. I have an interesting way of editing certain scenes. I method edit in a sense. I try to put myself in a certain mental state, to "feel" the edit. I listen to certain music, watch certain movies, think about specific experiences in life. I don't know if many editors do this, but I do. I also do that before I shoot certain scenes. To answer the question, yes, I did cry today, once. I guess I just got teary eyed, but it was essentially crying.

That's a great method man... especially listening to music. That makes all the difference in the world...

It totally does make a difference.

Ok, after this weekend I can say I am 95% done with editing. Need to add some establishing shots, but that's about it! The movie's looking to clock in around 1 hr. It's looking great! :) I am very pleased with everything.

Damn. 15 minutes a day...And i took 2 days with 9 tapes to shoot 10 minutes. Thers a thing to be said for overkill...

PS: regarding the 9 tapes, we had 3 cameras - dvx, xl2 and a pd170, so that contributed to the extra footage.
But damn brandon, isnt 15 minutes a day like sprinting?

That's just how we work dude. I for one like to keep my set MOVING :) :)

Also, we did shoot one short pick-up day. It consisted of some establishing shots and short scenes. During the actual principle photography our longest day was 12 hours. The rest of the days were 10 hours. The last day of principle and the pick-up day were about 6 hours.

Wow, you must have had that movie planned out pretty well.

Yes, that is my philosophy. PLAN PLAN PLAN till' you're blue in the face! Also, we had the luxury of having amazingly talented actors who came to set totally prepared which sped up the process even more.

Probably. If I ever get a script done, Id probably take 4-5 months to make storyboards and other preparations, so I wasted no time. Coo-ool.

absolutely!

Update: Captured more footage for "Director's Diaries" and will be posting another one online soon. For day 2 of production. Things are going well with the film, waiting on hearing back from Daniel after he watches my cuts, and we'll go from there.

i'm pretty stoked on it too man. lets see it.

but just on a side note...Communism is not as bad as Stalin might of made made it seem.

Brandon can your next film be a pro-communist film? yeah? Carl Marx? Lenin?

cheers, and keep up the stellar work.

As far as seeing the full film, I will probably be selling it sometime in the next few months. We're working on loading the DVD with TONS of great behind the scenes interviews and such... working on getting interviews with the cast and crew.

Also, the film doesn't deal so much with Communism as it might seem, it's more of a humanistic story, that deals with pain, and love.

And I don't think I'll be doing a pro-communist film anytime soon :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)
