HVX 200 and Apple Shake 4.1 ... pure pleasure!

I have been spending a week going through the Apple Pro Training series Shake 4
lessons and got to chapter 9 ... about removing 3:2 pull-down and afterwards the
endless possibilities of re-timing and converting formats! I am happy to have shot
all my material in 1080i 50 (having no other import options for being a PAL Final Cut Pro user ) at the time as I now find these oh so easy conversion settings in Shake 4.1.
Any of my interlaced 50 footage can be converted by a few settings to any HD progressive or SD PAL or NTSC standard ! This feature together with the Stabilizing
features ... Shake 4.1 is just a gift from heaven ...

This is the best 499 Euro on software I ever spent! And this Pro training book by Marco Paolini is simply a must ! (Beware to buy the Shake 4 version not 3 )

If you want to try it all out ... the cheap way ... just buy the book ... it comes with a 30 day trial of Shake 4 ! ...

Life is perfect again ... no further worries ...
Greetings from Brugge ... Belgium

Ah !

Salutations !

Bonjour au Québec,
... however ... I need to reply in English if you don't mind. I am glad you loved Brugge. I am doing pre-production on a feature movie which story is situated in Brugge. It is called Bruges-la-Morte written by Georges Rodenbach. The whole movie will be filmed with half a dozen HVX-200 cameras. At this stage we hop to convince a welknown rockartist to write a 90 minute symfony to which the film will be shot. The meeting in which we will possibly come to an agreement with this 50 year old rockstar is due at the end of this month. ... Shake ... Drop Shadows being created from Alpha channels included in 3D generated images are easy to shear and manipulate as shadows ... Shadows created in Rotoscoping are not difficult but indeed very time consuming ... Keying is my next chapter ... and looks a very promising way to spend my sunday ... I must say ... no wonder this software did cost 3000 Euro before ... it simply does everything ... and after a rather steep learning curve the first week ... it all starts to make a lot of sense ! ... Don't delay your purchase I should say ... or go and order the book on Amazon.

Shake Smoothcam ... quicktime example ...

Shake Smoothcam ... quicktime example ...

Found this ... and as a few people seem to talk about this smoothcam function .. here is how it works from Final Cut Pro into Shake ...

http://forums.creativecow.net/cgi-b.../articles/mench_michael/smooth_cam/index.html

I plan to use this as the ultimate correction on my shots taken with a glidecam smoothshooter ... and a glidecam 4000 pro and of course my HVX-200 ...

Greetings

The retiming is superb in Shake. Nice slow motion, no fuzzy softness or nothing. Of course you can still see it 'made up frames'. But that's only because I pay to damned much attention. :)

Just switched from Shake 3 to 4.1 and there is definately added DVCProHD support in the new version... along with integrated compatibility with FCP... I used to have to do tons of importing and exporting of movie files and image sequences back and forth from FCP to shake and apple had greatly improved the workflow between the programs...

My 2 cents...

btw... 4.1 on a macbook pro rocks... and superfast flipbook renders on the GFizzle (G5) with nVidia 7800GT with mad ram
