Horror Fest

So a Horror Fest eh?

Cool. Never entered a DVX competition before, wait, never even made a horror movie before, crud, never even made a movie before...Hell this is like a :nads: to me. But I like a challenge. Me entering.

(Does it have to be 6 minutes?! a horror movie in 6 minutes?!)
(Is there going to be a horror forum up now then?)
(When is there like, a thread of rules and regulations up etc?)

DVX Forums = 1
Me = 0

.:Goes to work on a script for his first ever film:.

Is that a fact ? You ever seen a 6 year old watch Jurassic PArk in full sorround sound large screen glory ? I'd beg to differ; it's definately a horror film !

That's what I thought . it just so happened to be on the other day and I was like this is kind creepy

Question: What will be the time length of these? I got to thinking, if you're going to keep a 5 minute cap on the films, that doesn't really give you enough time to establish characters, scare your audience AND resolve the situation. I'm sure we can think outside of the box here, but it's gonna be rough.

lets wait for herofest to be done before we start laying down the rules for horrorfest.

if you need 10 minutes just shoot for 10 minutes and speed everything up 2x in post.

LOL Sounds like a deal :)

Five minutes is enough time. Six is even better.

If you want to do any more than that, make a longer one and cut six out of it. Just like we said last/this fest.

I'm really glad this is gonna be a Horror fest because..ive got a few basic ideas running around..and I was waiting for this forum to get the ball rolling for the next contest so i could go rent a DVX and film.

Anybody in New Jersey or New York wanna team up? if the rules let it that is....

so, horror fest sounds like a fantastic idea! we'll have to try and rearrange our schedule a little to try and make it in this time around.
we had our hero short fully wrapped, but in post our doubts were confirmed that the story had become to big. we could not get a version we were happy with to squeeze down to five/six minutes that we felt lived up to our concept and didn't compromise the story. we are working on the full cut now and it looks like it will be about 25minutes long. our own fault. it seems that it is impossible for us to do a five minute story. we love this project and we are happy that once again dvxuser motivated us to move forward with our ideas...
well, we will give it another go for horror fest then!
Congrats to everyone on completing their shorts....we enjoyed watching all of them!:)

Lets have a 7 minute time limit for HorrorFest. A whole extra minute will rock for story development! I am excited to see the results of Herofest tonight. Good job everyone!

Heh, thats what I did for Zombie Fest ;)

i & t you guys should have cut a trailer for the fest to get some feedback anyways.

6 mins is all we ever get. but then again there are alot of mirrors popping up now and days....

Looking at fifty films, every minute you add requires almost another full hour to watch them. And that's not counting the time it takes to respond and actually think about them.
