*Grabs* from PRAGUE!

Yeah, there is alot of history about that crazy place. We were lucky as to get to go on a segway tour, and since it was just my brothre and I, as well as the tour guide, who was all of 21 years old, we told him " look, we've seen prague backwards and forwards, we just took this tour to use the segways" lol, so we were zipping around prague on these cool little bush killer contraptions and he gave us a bunch of the fun facts.

For example, there is a monument that looks exactly like the eiffle tower. Fun fact about this guy is that is was built after the eiffle tower, so that Prague could have something too, but measuring from the tip of it to ground level is the same height as the real eiffel tower, but it is on a mountain which is more than half of its height from the ground.

Nice pics. I have a colleague who got married a few months ago and they did their honeymoon in Prague. She didn't take great pics like this but her explanation of the place brought up mental images like this. Can't wait to see what you do with this footage. You could do some cool stuff using green screen and using this footage as background. Many of those pics bring to my mind scenes from movies about satanic rituals or anything involving monks or clergy.

actually thats quite an interesting story.

just after my fathers one hundred and eleventh birthday, I was given this ring. Surely enough, it had powers and had to be destroyed.
So that statue was one of the soldiers that were chasing us as we journeyed to a sacred volcano where it was constructed, because for some strange reason, only that fire could undo what was already done.

Dunno, some statue that i passed by and though, ooooo, pretty, would look good after some CC and glidecamin

:)

but listen guys, this is really honestly truthfully not an excuse but ... well here :

The intentions of filming this trip would be to have a family video that looks like something you could sit down, get some popcorn and watch as entertainment. It is going t obe roughly 30 mins long from 5 hours of footage and to show you guys would,, well you would think its kind of sow moving and maybe slightly boring. Which is why i am kinda shy to post it, its not quite finished yet tho anyways, have to add a bit more music and touch up on the editing then it will be finished.

But yeah, its not going to be a short, or action packed trip, its just sights we visited, shots of hte family, great cinematic shots with 2.35:1 ratio and CC the rest is letterboxed.

I really would love to show you guys, but you let me know if its going to be worth your time watching a 30 minute trip to prague. It is to me,but critiques here are harsh :) just keep in mind its not meant to keep anyones attention, just to remember a great trip!

great captures. Its amazing that the 2.35:1 looks so good even with the massive cropping. For all you who are still having trouble with masking ur lcd for 2.35:1, heres a lil tool i got for you.

Heres a framing chart if you shoot on 16x9 or with the adapter:
framing_chart_16x9.jpg

and heres one if you shoot 4:3.

Simply crop it out in your NLE so the arrows are no longer visable and make the square outline your NLE's 4x3 or 16x9 display. (then obviously play it back on your dvx and use gaffers tape accordingly)

thats a really cool chart. But honestly, give this a try.

Plug your DVX into your editor, if oyu have premier pro 1.5, the clip in a 4x3 frame is 22 on top and 22 on bottom. Make sure you have playback on your cameras LCD monitor

Take aruler, and draw little lines on th side of your lcd screen and then place a rubber band across the top and bottom. This allows for easy framing of 2.35:1 but still maintaining the visual of whats just above and below the frame

( Its amazing that the 2.35:1 looks so good even with the massive cropping )

Its amazing, but amazingly simple. Once you have the rubber bands on, its not really a qustion anymore of what your cropping out in post. Your just getting rid of the part of the picture that you did not frame.

so if i have, well picture 4, it doesnt feel like its been increadibly cropped because having those lines across the lcd screen shows you the exact frame, so you stand a little farther back, get a wider shot and frame it correctly. Wider shots in general give you much more leaway because of hte factthat you can play with the framing as well, moving hte frame up and down to match the best clip possible.

and quite frankly, its all being played back on 4x3 TV set and screens anyway, and to my eye, i could care less about the resolution , quote on quote, loss . Its the same aspect ratio because its been framed that way so you would be seeing the same thing if it was native 2.35:1, it would just be higher quality. Psh...

The widescreen looks really adds weight to the image and makes it feel more stable i find. Do most of my stuff in 16x9 or 2.35:1 anyways.

ill take a still grab of my camera with the rubber bands tonight, youll really see how simple it makes the framing process.

cool. :p When i said "its amazing that the 2.35:1 looks so good..." i meant because of the pixels your losing, not because of the actual cropped image ;) I think i will do the rubber band method tho, does it allow the lcd to close when they are on?

yes yes yes, only problem is every time you close it, the rubber band on thebottom tends to slide slightly downwards, but a little adjustment when shooting is all it takes, i did hte same thing on my 7 inch lcd monitor.

k im about to post some footage form the trip

but beforei do, it must finish rendering and then i have to compress it so i can shot it to ya guys

KEEP IN MIND

yes this was done with a glidecam2000 pro, but in NO WAY was it a careful procedure, i was extremely wreckless with it, had no idea what shot i was going to do when, and as a result, the thing moves alot, sways, not completely balanced. and since i used it for full days at a time, i got a huge workout on my arm, actually had to go see a physician cause i did some serious damage to it, using it 6 days in a row, all day.

but yea, plz excuse the sloppy use of the glidecam, just enjoy the footage..
SOON

Nothing special just fully empty statue of siting person - just the cloak filled with air behind theater where some parts of Amadeus were shot.

PaPa don't worry. We know this was not an attempt at cinematic excellence. You just captured your family trip and, since you're not the average camera-totin' tourist, you surely filmed it in a nice way (you toted around a GlideCam for 6 days for crying out loud) and your final video of it will be quite amazing. Speaking for myself, I just like watching other people's edited video! So post it.
