thanks man, it did the edits on FCP and all we used were reflectors. I actually shot it in 60i though.

Wow, as I was watching this I was thinking it was a commercial so I was ripping it to shreds and thinking ... "This is too long. If MayDay actually airs this they are going to pay out the wazoo!" Then I re-read your initial post and saw that it's a sales video. Still I think some of my critique might be revelant though ...

Overall it was too long. Certain shots last too long. Even with sales videos, people want quick, boom, get to the point and dazzle me. Too long shots IMHO: truck about to back into driveway; guy gets out of truck and starts his shpiel, then too much space before dissolve into him knocking on door (which was also an unnecessary shot); the PIP shots on Indoor Treatments, the first one scales down from center to UL, and the rest should also for continuity instead of dissolving into their PIP end-locations. This part lasts too long too. Treating Wall Voids: enough to just show CU of guy squirting stuff into socket. No need for medium CU before and after ... again too long. Same with next scene of guy shooting stuff behind sofa and in attic. Basement, Garage and Under Decks was nice and quick, though could have been maybe 1 sec quicker. Again, boom, pow, there, give it to me quick and dazzle me.

Great framing of shots, nice background music, nice blending of background music with other sounds (starting up pump), nice, clean overall audio. Titling was awesome. Overall though, this felt too much like that part on Sesame Street where they go into way too much detail about how watermelons are grown and harvested or something. Only because it was too long. Again, I'm no professional so I'm only giving you my layman's reaction. This is how I would have felt if I had to sit in boardroom and watch this as a Purchasing Rep.

I know you mentioned you only used reflectors, but how about when you were in the attic? Also if you don't mind me asking what did you use for sound? It was so clear. I couldn't hear even a pinch of wind....

I also thought it ran a little long. But the colors and shots were great, the audio was clean, and it was balanced. The graphics were nice but not overbearing, and they helped bring the whole thing together well. Good work.

My only suggestion would be to increase the pacing of the dialogue. Not the VA though, that was fine.

Thanks alot for the honest feedback, thats what we all need to become better. Spielberg said it takes him about 4 years to be able to look at his work with "different eyes" than he laid on it when he was actually putting it together so its nice when someone else can point out things you just dont see. I acutally am going to implement some of your suggestions, I appreciate it. This was a learning process, I usually stick to weddings, and we literally slapped it together in 3 days beginning to end, but anyway thanks for the critique, very helpful.

In the attic we just used the light that was already in there, and for the audio I just had my guy wearing a cheap wireless mic.
