Teaser for our new wakeboarding film

WOW! Definitely got me amped to go wakeboarding! I thought it was awesome. The footage was clean and crisp...very quality. Colors were incredible. It seemed like it was more that just a video with tons of random wakeboarding footage - it kinda went a little deeper, which I think makes it more interesting. Music and editing flowed together well. The little "matrix" move at the end was pretty nifty - care to explain how it was done?

Wow. How much of those colors were amped up in post? I know the DVX is a great camera, but those look so vivid. Great job all around.

Hmmmm... I dig pretty much everything but the voice over. His voice sounds too "cheesy" and therefore, makes all the professional hard work that was done in post lose it's quality. I'd say spring for a real narrator, or cut it out all together.

Also, do you have the rights for the music used? if not, I'd figure something out before final cut.

The shots were impressive, the editing was kickass...well, all the post production work looked great, and those wakeboarders rocked. It was a bit long, though... I know it's hard, but might want to trim it down a bit.

Just my opinion.

Cool! I liked the "matrix" move too. I second the request to explain how you did it. I thought the narrator was great, contrary to a previous post. I like the rapid cuts. Lends urgency and speed to the production and fits the subject well. I also liked the close-ups of the wakeboarders with the green screen effect and dropping in the background movie.

Did you shoot with any type of steadicam/glidecam from the boat or just handheld? Thanks for the post. :)

Thanks for incite, feedback from others is critcal for improvement.

To answer a few questions-
DVX color - almost every shot was bumped in post
footage - all video was tripod mount or handheld, never tried a glide cam
narration - it is one of those things that is very difficult write and pull off, wakeboarding films typically are nothing more than a music vid. "rcbrown23" what portion did you find cheesy? the words, the delivery, the voice...?

That was awesome!!! I rarley get excited to see a wakeboard video, but this one got me stoked to go check it out!

I'm curious too as how you did the matrix effect.

Like other said I like the narration but I didn't like the voice.

Sorry for the late reply. I just watched it again, and still agree with my previous post about the voice-over.

The words aren't bad, it's a bit much for my liking (the "in a world where time is not measured by time...) but I think it's effective, and wouldn't bother changing them.

The problem is in the guys voice/delivery. It sounds, to me, like it's just some guy talking into a microphone. A guy I do a lot of jobs for a pro voice over guy, and he's told me how it's done. It's not really the "talking" voice that the pro's use, it's more of a "singing" voice, and it has to be done in a studio, even if it's a really cheap makeshift studio in a closet. Does that make sense? It's really not hard to get it to sound good, but you have know the technique. I've seen this guy "teach" people how to do it, and make it sound good, in a half an hour.

Hope that explains it a little better. As "rszebras" said, he thinks it sounds good as is, so maybe it won't bother anyone else... so you could leave it as is.

Another option, maybe, is to just take the audio into an audio program and play around with it a bit. I use PEAK, and it does me wonders. Try adding a little reverb to it, and lower his voice a bit. It could do the trick. Just my opnion, though.

I wouldn't quite call it a teaser. It's more like an extended trailer, or summary of the video. Either way, it looks really good! You've got some excellent shots and excellent wakeboarding!

The voice was plain....need some darthvader or some badass voice. A voice that makes you feel some adreneline rush cause this guy sounds like he wants to tangle! :costumed-smiley-047

I got it!!!!
The guy that does the voice-over....punch him in the face!
Tell him you need a retake and right before he starts......POP!
I love editing with real blood :)

That was awesome! But seriously, we all need a breakdown of the matrix effect!!! I can sorta figure out how to do that on land... but on water!?
