My school's film dept. has 16mm and 35mm cameras to rent (for free)
I'd check your school to see what's available, and if not your school, then maybe a friend's school that's nearby.
That's probably your best bet, I doubt anybody would just give you an HVX.

While that might have worked, it would probably only work once, and you'd have to get in line behind the 30,000 other young dreaming filmmakers who are currently trying the same tactic.
Now -- back on your subject, I can give you one answer: the 48 Hr. film contest was sponsored by Panasonic, and the top prize they gave away was an HVX200. So look for things like that maybe, but recognize you'll be in competition with about 100,000 other aspiring filmmakers...
