Who Has Received Their PAL HVX200?

SKIP!
Probably in tech heaven now, dont forget to keep us informed, i would also suggest you to send us an image of the first pal released cam!
Yes, lets roll..this is history!

Paul,
did i get this right?
was the cam in the package that arrived a couple of ours ago?
How is it?
How does it feel?
How does it look?

Can you hear us?-we are really keen on to hear from your first pal-hand on report!!

And maybe you can post an image?
Got P2 with it or did you order an FS100?`

Congrats!!

It smells nice and new. I'm being a real ponce with it and handling it like a woman. I bought 1 4gb card. I'm currently being even more of a ponce by reading the manual.

I'm new to cams of this sort so it might be better to ask someone else for samples and the like.

I'll keep you informed.

Man Paul, i am so jealous!!
Please shoot a pic of (you) and/ your "new woman"!
Id love to see the pal to know that my is also on their way!
Do you got an hdtv to plug it on?
If so, please record also something on p2 and play it back(on cam and tv if possible), cause this is definitly different from just switching the cam on and watchibg it without recording..!

Paul, this is going to be a long day and night with yout new toy, long night with playing and posting!

Thanks for all your info coming!!

Hey Paul,

What time did you get yours? I received my at 9:26 this morning. Here's what arrived:

1x HVX
2x 4GB P2 Cards
1x Panasonic P2 Store

I've hooked up the 17" Panasonic LCD and was blown away by the image......NOISE, what noise?

more to follow.

Rich

Rich.. Lets see a Steadicam shot with it then :)

Thanks for the news everyone. Nice to hear that it has arrived in PAL land.

Now, who will be first to post footage?

- Mikko

It arrived at around 11am.

hgv
4gb card

and I went the cheap route and got the 17" sony mfm-ht75w tv/monitor so that I could get a general idea of whats going on. I'm only just having a look at the monitor as I've been having too much fun playing with the variable frame rate.

Rich, how much did it cost for the 2 4gb cards + P2 Store?

Can't wait to pick up mine tomorrow but really wanted to get the Firestore.

4GB P2 card @ £430.00+VAT per Card.
P2 store @ £995.00+VAT.

Rich, are you using anything to edit? Are you able to get any of the shot video into the pc that you can view? I havent looked deep into this side of things just yet.

I'm waiting for avid xpress pro hd to catch up before I do any HD editing.

Has anyone yet received or picked up their PAL HVX200 yet?

I am desperate to hear any feedback. I can't get to pickup mine for another two weeks because of a shoot I'm working on.

They were shipping out yesterday in the UK... Anyone got one yet?
I will get a rental HVX 200 by the middle of next week, plan some realworld shooting as well as test recording and a direkt comparison to a Sony Z1

Hi Just been told my HVX has been dispatched from Digibroadcast. I'm living in Ireland so if things are really good I should have it tomorrow if not Monday.

Sorry haven't even begun looking at ingesting footage yet. I'm MAC based so won't be editing anything anytime soon as I'm waiting for the upgrade. As for viewing, I'm watching recorded footage back on the Panasonic 17" LCD at the moment.

I'm looking forward for your test comparison! Especially if you could test both in the *demanding outdoor wide shots* to compare the overall (camera+lens) definition as well as latitude.

Also, you could optimize both to make the best images that look exactly the same in terms of levels/contrast/saturation etc so you can compare quality (noise, artifacts, clarity etc). I mean to find the one that delivers the best image with the fewer artifacts!

If you shoot 1080/25p, you can edit perfectly with fcp... the problem it's with the 720/25pn (and not sure about the 720/25p)

I would'nt recomend to record with the Z1 on non-natve (60/50i) format.
If I had to compare with a progressive one for the motionless quality I would capture static scenes without any deinterlace. For motion artifacts comparison I would deinterlace in post using what best is out there -not necessarily in my editor.

Dear SPZ, I've noticed that my web-friend Emanuel was lookin' for Xdcam HD too (my second choice when we have talked about camera's options), I've also trust in his choices. Maybe he had a little of luck to test it (I've not tested Xdcam yet, but I've read reports that says it's near to Hdcam quality, I've tested Hdcam personally you know and was amazing)
Emanuel is a good guy and expert too :)
Hope to see his thoughts about it!
Well, after one week far away -- I've been travelling and with a severe flu, I don't know what I can say by now, mio amico Danilo. But :dankk2: anyway for the compliments. I suppose it's impossible not to be flattered with your kind words.

Regarding the topic, I'm patiently waiting for the NAB and the results afterwards. I must be testing to 35mm film-out blow-up a couple of/or even several cameras next May/June@Lisbon. My goal will be the Sony XDCAM-HD PDW-F330 (1440x1080 1/2" 3CCD, uncompressed audio and the Sony noiseless properties and synthetic CineAlta colors/label -- well, it's a bundle!) and the new JVC GY-HD7000 (1920x1080 2/3" 3CMOS -- if available 'til then), as well, the GV Infinity (JPEG2000, 110 megabits, 10 bits... -- available in May). And the HVX if the noise/macro blocking issue will be solved. I'd like hear the usual free spirits. Fellows like Häak (Haakon) and you, caro Danilo, you are gold to all this community because your flag is merely the motion picture, not this or that business interest -- typical of any commercial brand.

Danilo, the xdcam hd would certainly be an option, if it didn't cost 20000 Euros. With 20000 Euros you could have an HVX, 2 8gb cards, a P2store, a Arri lighting kit, A small dolly system, a handheld steadicam system, a brand new Laptop and even a home editing station! :)
More precisely less than €17,000 (IVA away to non-UK residents)...and the disks (60 mins. of 1080HD@35megabits -- 40% more than Canon's 25megabits HDV, right?) they cost $30 -- well, I dunno, I dunno... :D
