Here are clips from testing my XLH1 in 24P HD. This is about 80% 16x manual lens and 20% 20x lens.

These are just basic no thrills tests done in Laguna Beach,CA and NewportBeach/Corona Del Mar,CA.

If that link does not work, try this.

You will need the VLC player to view .m2t clips

Here are frame grabs from the XLH1 too!

Was it sunset on the socalgirl shot or was it a camera setting?

Both. camera tweaks and a nice late afternoon sun. Manual 16x lens somewhat enhances the contrast too.

What's with the bizarre color cast?
I'm using VLC media player.. am I missing something, or is everything totally orange? (Canon Clips)

By far the best camera out of the bunch. They're all good. But this one, in my opinion, is by far the best.

I havent a clue which one is the best as I'm seeing some killer work across the board; but my word:

Check out Mac's latest work

http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=48681

This is the best stuff I have seen from ANYONE on ANY CAMERA up for contention; HVX, JVC, Canon ...

I suspect Mac can get these results with most any tool we hand him.

This makes everything else look blase.

Or maybe MAc just shoots circles around the rest of us ?

Hi Salatar! I shoot extreme and then make my final version in the grading stage. I go for a dense and thick Neg ( I mean master ) then find my liking from there.

That said here is a partial quote from something I said!

""I don't mind watching middle tone work from other artists, however I can't seem to stay level for myself. If I did, I would be completely dissatisfied and bored with my work. I like the extremities. I'm an extremist in nature so it carries over to my cinematography and everything else.""

Now here is a simple grading done to that clip and one other.

Yes, this has been my way of doing it since the 80's.

When I would shoot with the HDC-500 HDVS system back in the early 90's I would go for my look and since I do things at an extreme it works for my style. On the ccu for that camera it was a blast to go all over the place. Today that is common place with HD gear!

Btw, are you Robert from DVi? If so, I cheked out your Blog, very awesome!

Here are frames of the clips that have had simple grading pass:

Pappas - do you feel that bringing down the extremity of original neg (master) gives you more control than "pushing"?
