New DVX Nike commercial

I enjoyed it. The beginning and end really felt like a nike commercial. The middle, however, seemed disjointed. It's possible to go for a disjointed look, but it wasn't refined enough to seem like it was done with purpose. I might reconsidered the song too. Did you create that in garageband? I thought I recognized one of the loops.

Yeah I recognized the garageband loops. Loved the 'look' was that magic bullet? I liked the flow of it actually. intesne, got to the point. The music didnt fit though. Epsically the high pitched 'doo wee dee dee doo' thing at the end. If that makes sense. I did like the heart beat though.

Oh and how did you do the effect of all those people running up the bleechers. That was great.

Nice commercial! The middle seemed to have a lot more energy than most sporting good commercials, but is that a bad thing? Naaah. It's fine. :)

i disagree. i found the music worked for the quick commercial. And i must say i found it excellently shot and edited. What shutter speed did you use? 1/120 or 250 ?

I liked the beginning, great job. One the bleachers blurred, I was a little
disoriented. I also didn't like the dirty tennis shoe on first frame. Nice editing.

i agree with papa...my only negative comment/question...what's for sale? i see a guy working out, but for what? i'm not going to run out to buy a pair of shoes because i saw somebody else working out. there was and ad awhile back where a basketball team loses a game. it then shows them running suicide after suicide. next game they drill their opponent. a flash goes off and it turns into a newspaper article with the headline "wildcats are running towards the title" and then the nike. in the past nike used to end their commercials with "just do it". so i'm saying you either need to have a text line to end it or build up towards what this guy is working out for, because it looks like he's thinking about working out. also at the beginning you might need to show the nike swoosh on the shoe more prominently. if a nike exec has to ask "is that one of ours?" he either gets fired for not knowing the company catalogue or they question your spot. :)

however the footage itself is tremendous...your stuff looks way beyond the commercials that are made here locally. i'll post a clip so you can tell. which might make everyone here on dvxuser want to move here and dominate the ad market. anyway seriously if you are not working in the ad industry/market in your area...why not???

if you're selling you're work then in my mind...SOLD! if you're going to show nike or some ad agency then you need to show what's for sale because i see the shoe at the beginning and then after that i see braids...when did nike start selling dreadlocks???

overall - awesome

That guy can't hurdle for crap.

But other than that - I thought it was hawt. I agree on logo needing more exposure at the beginning, because really - you can't see it at all. Also - the music was a bit sketchy.

that is pretty tight. it might benefit from a short slower change of pace in the middle then a quick dynamic build to the end. Maybe around the time he jumps over the camera. I like the big wide shot of the bleachers. That helps to give it some breathing room. Good editing!

I like it. Really nice. Nice layering and editing and chroma tweakage. it almost makes me forget how much I hate Nike...

I did have a thought though. Instead of re-using footage towards the end, it might have been cool to get some close-up shots of skin/sweat/etc.

How long did it take you to edit this piece? Roughly?

By the way, nice website and thanks for turning me on to my new favorite band.

Oh yeah!

This may sound dumb, but why do people do spec ads?
To build up a demo reel when you haven't had the good forture of actually getting some of that nike advertising money. Strictly for resume/demo purposes.
