Any Fellow Cigar Enthusiasts Out There?

Somebody really knows his cigars. Most people think I'm crazy when I tell them that one of my favorites is from the Bahamas. :)

I've got one Crystal in my humidor and it will be that way for a while. :)

Ok...
I may have a new favorite.

If you haven't tried the newly-available God of Fire line from Fuente, do yourself a favor and treat yourself to one. If you can find one that is.

These babies were originally released only as part of an uber-rare humidor set (a scarce 100 sets world-wide at 6 large a pop.) Since late last year, however, they have been available in limited qualities by the stick. The same exclusive group of tobacconists that are fortunate enough be Opus X appointed merchants are getting some of these beautiful creations on their shelves.

The God of Fire is available in two versions:
God of Fire by Don Carlos 2004
-and-
God of Fire by Carlito 2004

I have tried both, and would say that either will leave you speechless. I must admit that I am partial to the Don Carlos series. I smoked the toro size and the churchill, and had a perfectly white 2 inch ash with both. I would not label them a full-bodied powerhouse like the Opus or VSG per se...
I take no hesitation, however, in slapping the label of most complexity of flavors in cigar history on them both.
They are medium-to-full body, and are reminiscent of the Casa Fuente series (exclusive to the establishment of the same name inside the Forum at Caesar's Palace in Vegas.) The Casa Fuente Churchill is #2 on the Callaghan list, by the way.

Each 'gar comes in its own 'coffin' (not unlike the "Perfection A" size of Opus.) The individual stick price averages around 24 bucks.

Highly, Highly recommended.

Thanks man! I'll have to check these out! I haven't had a great cigar in awhile.
Hopefully you'll partake in some during the debauchery that will be your 21st birthday.

While driving back North, I have stopped at 2 outta 3 of the J.R.'s in Carolina (the one on 95 and the one on 75.) I never want to leave. I have set by the roaring fire with a few maduro friends on more than one occasion.

They were just bought out by the tobacco juggernaut Altadis, but I haven't seen much change in their pricing (which is a good thing.) You can't beat the J.R. box price on many cigar lines.

Also...
If you do order from J.R. Cigars, I suggest the El Rey del Mundo line...more specifically the oscuros, also known as double maduros (the coloration is a midnight black...they are sun-ripened, and have both a maduro wrapper and a maduro binder.)

Full bodied and spicy, they have one of the nicest oily wrappers around. The Robusto Larga (6 X 54) is a great size in this series.

You are welcome here anytime, Wilder.

Hell, you can enjoy the sinful aromas of our blazing belicosos, even if you don't partake. In my experience cigar smoke has a nostalgic quality for many people...it reminds damn near everyone of a grandfather, father, godfather, a favorite uncle or the like.

i had an ONYX at Slimothy's house 2 weeks ago it sucked. 10.00 but the beers and company was good

I am not a smoker, never have been. But for some reason lately I have the craving to go out and get a cigar and just smoke it. No idea why just in the last month.

Is it worth it? Shall I do it?

Not a big fan of the Onyx...never have been. The original was very inconsistent, and the Reserve is no better.

I just hope that you don't have some Pavlovian Dog poo poo happening after Brett Rice slammed the humidor lid on your hand.

Seriously, though, we had a couple of damn fine smokes here in Florida, you and I...
wouldn't you say?

That's up to you, my man.

I will say again that handmade stogies are au naturel, and really can't be compared to smoking cigs in any way, shape or form.

For myself, it couldn't be more worth it. As cliché as it may sound, cigars are one of life's simple pleasures. There is nothing on earth like the pairing of a fine cigar with a single malt, a cocktail, a port or even a proper pint of the black stuff.

IMHO of course.

How goes it, Craven?

Yeah, you and I have smoked a cigar or ninety together over the years.
Call me this weekend if your boisterous schedule allows. We got a lot
to discuss, my man...so light up a double corona before you even pick
up the phone.:D

You are right, those VSG's are luscious...I just finished a big meal -
think I'll cut and torch one right now.
