Any Fellow Cigar Enthusiasts Out There?

As some of you know, my two great passions are for classic films and fine cigars. Just curious to know if there are any others who enjoy partaking in the latter (we all have the former in common already.)
I went to Vegas for my annual Big Smoke pilgrimage last month-Yowzer! What a time...

...and if so, whatcha smokin'?

Yeah, there is a new series, the Romeo y Julieta Petit Piramide Edición Limitada that I tried in Vegas...mighty good smoke.

Personally, I'm a Fuente Fuente Opus X and Ashton VSG man myself.

best i've smoked was a davidoff pre-castro... can't believe how well cigars keep when taken care of.

but i'm a big lover of my partagas series d... & cohiba robustos.

i had a bunch of cigars at the friars club don't remember them all. soon as you walked in they handed you a bag about 10 cigars. the one i remember was george hamilton cause he was promoting them at the time. i was a guest of this producer\writer whom i trained at the time Kevin Curran (david letterman show married with children fame). i sat with the guy who played moose from nite court cracked me up all nite i forget his name. Kareem abdul Jabarr right smack in front of us and i'm sitting with a bunch of comedians saying jokes about 275.00 a plate and they put the giant in front of us, of course it was all in jest. norm crosby was the host. man that's funny i have'nt told anyone about this before. i'm just starting to recall this i think this was 1996 boxing match between chavez and ? man Chad sorry i'm going off here on your thread it's late

Oh man... I love Cigars... My favorite are Macanudos... (I think I spelled that right). They are very smooth cigars. I also enjoy Romeo Y Julieta's. A Punch is a bit strong for me... I enjoy cigars very much though.

I have enjoyed a cigar in my day but considering I'm 7 months out from quitting a 21 year old pack a day smoking habit............................

Probably not anytime in my near future.

two humidors

favorites are monte cristo #2 torpedos, romeo julietas and cohiba's... All cuban of course and I'm stacked! hehe

You know your cigars, my man...

Those Davidoffs haven't been made in Havana since early 1990, and the Serie D is one of the few consistent Cuban lines left IMO (along with the much newer Vegas Robaina.)

Don't worry...I'll set you up with some of the good stuff while you're on Florida time for the Sci-Fest shoot (or on CallaghanTime as you put it.)

You and me both...There's nothing like a good stogie.

Fair enough, John...but I always say, "You smoke your next cigar because you want to, not because you have to." I always considered enjoying cigars more akin to savoring wine than to smoking cigarettes.

I'm lucky in that respect. I skipped the cigarette phase and developed an appreciation for good cigars at an early age.

I used to smoke a cigar from time to time, but I haven't picked one up in a couple of years.
Too bad...I would love to discuss drink/cigar pairings with you.

Monte Cristo's are a very fine smoke..........
Altadis, the French/Spanish company that owns Montecristo, actually paid Castro better than a quarter billion a few years back, and now own the majority share of Habanos S.A. (the world-wide distributor of all Cuban cigars.)

The Monte #2 was my fav for years before it became a bit inconsistent. As of late there is no doubt that they are back in a big way though.

i smoke the CAO Gold Robusto, Sosa Macabi, Fuente Double Corona and anything else that's a mild cigar.
You can't go wrong with anything made by Fuente. Good calls all. Also, I love the CAO Brazil line myself.

Anyone tried Acid series from Drew Estate? I'm almost interested to try one:

I prefer their Natural and Vieja lines. The ACID series really have a niche (just not my cup of tea.) The leaves are infused with up to 90 different herbs and oils, so they are not flavored per se. Their launch put a hurting on Lars Teton's business for sure.

No, but the Kahlua ones are very good!
They are becoming popular, but I'm a purist (as am I in respect to booze.)

I'm a cigar man myself. I picked up the taste for it in Miami. I too skipped the cigarette stage.

I never got into the technical side of production and tastings and all that, although I probably will, one of these days. I just experimented to find what I like. In the end, I prefer Dominican cigars, and currently smoke Don Rafaels. For the price they give me everything I like : A mild smoke, with Vanilla undertones and a sweet aftertaste. My humidor broke when i moved, and I haven't got around to buying a new one yet. Now if i could write it off on my business I would.

There's nothing like a great cigar to relax and stimulate the senses. I think on the last screenplay I wrote, I smoked arturo fuente for a 3 weeks...

So Callaghan, have you ever listened to the cigar General on radio ?

Cheers.

Ah yes...Cigar Dave. I have, in fact-but not for a while. Definitely worth a listen. I believe he can be heard on XM now or his show can be streamed online. Saturdays around noon, unless its changed.

EDIT: OK I had a look-see. He is on XM and on Sirius. I was right about the times.

I smoked a cuban cigar once and almost puked.

I'll stick to my chemically enhanced cigarettes
You can't inhale them, my man. They are just for the palate (oh, and for the soul.)
