Finally ready to start shipping matte box - I have 20 good to go.

Orders will be shipped in the order received. When out of stock, I will not take orders until a new batch is ready.

Matte Box Complete with French Flag is $189

Matte Box Complete with French Flag & Side Flags is $209
Boxes can be bought from here: >> LINK

Here is some pics and info for production model

Super light weight but durable aluminum that does not require a support system. Metal is finished with a bullet proof rubber coating. Comes with a removable French flag. Has the ability to hold 84mm filters [or P Series] Filters from Cokin, Tiffen, Hitech & Singh-Ray and others. I chose this filter size as it provides a huge range of filter options from $30 on the low end up to $180 on the high end. And tons in between. This gives the user the option to experiment with using filters without the burden of laying out a ton of cash

Installation
System mounts to front of stock lens. Aluminum adapter screws to filter threads and then matte box is snapped on. Installed and removed in seconds.

[SIZE=-1]Compatibility:
72 and 58mm is stock. This WILL NOT work on the HVX
This 72mm system will work with the DVX series and XL series. This setup is shown on the DVX but can be used on any camera with a lens under 72mm with an adapter. Depending on your lens size there could be a slight delay in shipment. Sony VX2000/2100, PD150/170 use 58mm – This is the same price as the 72mm. No additional charge for adapter.
Please check your cameras specs and confirm availability before ordering. When ordering you must specify size or 72mm will be sent. If you use a non 72mm camera now and upgrade to the DVX or XL2 in the future all you will need is a new adapter ring. The matte box is the same. If you have two cameras with different thread sizes you can just get one additional ring for the extra camera.

Optional Sizes
On top of 72 and 58mm there is 49,52,55,62 & 67 available.
These can be substituted[SIZE=-1] at no charge but may delay shipping a week or so.

Great to see them, Dakota! When is the HVX version hitting the shelves?

And finally--a bulletproof mattebox.

Dakota, congrats! I've been waiting on this.

Question: Seems like the french flag is a bit small. Is it 100% effective in its purpose even with it being small?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but that french flag doesn't seem very effective.
Does it just lock into that one position?
It doesn't seem adjustable. If it can't pivot up and down, what's the point?

Point is to keep the price down - It's a budget matte box.

Still very useable... Adjustable French flag is not paramount... The Matteblox flag can't be tilted for example.

$189 is not going to get ya all the bells and whistles for sure - But $600 - $1000 will get you all the goodies.

By the way, here is a stupid question from me: Will the matte box make the on-board dvx mic unusable? Does it "block" the sound in any way?

It would likely block the sound to a degree. I haven't run tests with on board mic. Shade has a rubber coating so it could be ok. It's best to not use the built in mic anyway, but if that's the only option you have for audio, I would recommend not getting a mattebox and spending the cash on a good shotgun mic.

No. Cannot be used with the ani

Yes. I can send to Denmark

PM me your address and I will let you know how much to ship.

Well I got one of these with the flags on the sides. Just arrived yesterday. For the money in comparision to what is out there in the market for much much more I have to say that it is pretty nice.

You do have to be carefull about swinging the camera around if handheld just like the instructions mention because you have added length but I don't really think anybody would be shooting that close to anything. But you would have to be carefull with any flag system anyway.

You can still use standard screw in filters if you have them and don't want to replace them. This was a big plus for me. As long as the filter has the ability to stack another filter (as almost of them, if not all of them do) then you just screw the mattebox adapter to the filter threads then put on the box.

And of course, you just made your camera look like a small Panavision. Put it on a really nice tripod and you really have a great looking set up and admit it, we all like our gear to look cool. There is a soft sided french flag thing out there for a lttle less money and it is put on with elastic bands and I don't think it holds filters. Not even close in usefullness or giving a pro look compared to to this one.

All in all I'd say if you are in the market and looking to save $700 to $1000 then this will really fit your needs.

These statements have not been prompted or asked for and nothing in return has been given to me. I paid full DVX User price. However, I am not above accepting gratuities in the future.
