ZYMOSIS (Short Film)

My name is D.J. Matrundola and I just finished a short film called ZYMOSIS.
Come and see what I did with the DVX-100.
(The film will be screened at the 2004 FANTAISA film festival) Take a look at the preview and the behind the scenes...

The buget for the film was around $10.000 incuding a lot of free help.
Zymosis will be available on dvd with an elaborate menu and extended behind the scense. It will also include my music video for Dilute the Poison (Faseless) and it will also have a behind the scenes montage. (Faceless) was not shot on the DVX-100, I used a sony DSR-570.
Zymosis was shot in advanced 24p with the panosonic 16x9 lens. It was mastered with final cut pro 4 in 10 bit uncompressed so I could get the best rendering and titles posible.(the film was also mastered for HD24p output)

You've been doing a lot of criticizing . . .

Which would be fine if you did so constructively. Most comments on clips are overly glowy, and it helps all of us to have a more critical commentary, too, with good comments about what can be done better.

But that's not what you've been doing. You've been leaving one-line slams with nothing in particular to offer.

Really, if you don't have anything to say other than trash-talk, you'd be best not to post it.

jeeze, why even bother putting 'no offense' before saying **** like that. The movie looks really strong and obviously had a lot of work and effort put into it.

If crazy sci fi flicks aren't your thing, then good for you, but for everyone who does want to see it I think it looked very promising

If your here to participate thats fine; if your here to troll leave. Its simple. 99.9% of the members here are polite, courteous and respectful of the others. They are here to learn and share information. It is very lax in here and we are free to more or less speak freely.

If you want to 'have fun' and make wise ass comments without thinking about what you are saying then go to Rottentomatoes.com or imdb.com where its troll central.

Regarding the 99.9%

The other 1% usally leave on their own or are banned.

hehe cool stuff.
reminds me of a project we once did:
i was DP for the second unit of a TV-series by columbia-tristar. in the script of one show was a film called "the brainsuckers are coming" running on a screen behind the actual acting/show. they wanted a) free stuff and b) it had to be a film so there was continuity in the background and c) it had to be obviously a C-film, with the wires on the spaceships being visible and such stuff......
so me and the props guy thomas went to work: we wrote a script, they made the model-landscape, modelspaceships etc.
we went to work and it came out beautiful. i never before or after watched a film like zymosis, but we studied a few for this shoot. and the shoot was one of the funniest things i ever did with the camera. i understand that some don´t like it, but i also see the fun in making these flicks. Zymosis looks damn professional to me. well done. keep on man....

I seem to recall the Zymosis film being posted here before (possibly by the DP?) and he mentioned the budget was around $10,000.

For Coltrain:
The reason people are slamming you is because you offer nothing to the board. This is a DVX100 user board. And content aside, the majority of what we critique and discuss is subject matter shot using that camera.

It's not enough to just say you don't like something. If that's all you have to offer, then your posts are pointless and just intend to be insulting. We don't need any Simon Cowells here.

Yes I did post it, Doug Kropla, DP, MDKFILMS.COM, I think now that D.J has his own site up i'll be taking the two clips off my site. I'll be shooting my own short soon. Right now i'm in the casting phase.

Very curious regarding $10,000 to make a short. Who the hell bankrolls that? Is this a preview type short of a feature length you are trying to get funding for? Is it out of your own pocket? If so that's very brave to embark on a speculative venture such as this. I hope this gets you some mass exposure and furthers your career!

ZYMOSIS is a short film that stands on it's own.
The buget was $10.000... I put in 25% of the money and the rest came from Cinepool Inc.
Cinepool is a facility that rents Lighting, Grip, Dolly and Crane kits(They put in the other 75%)
I got weeks of rentals from them, including studio time.
But there is a catch... I am one of the managers of that place.

You can buy ZYMOSIS on DVD for $10:00 us + shipping.
The behind the scenes were filmed in 16x9 and the DVD can be veiwed on 16x9 televisions. It will also have my Music video on it
