What do call the technique used when a camera focuses and zoom on the character while the background moves back? Like in a horror movie when the character sees the killer and the camera zooms into their face but the background moves back instead of forward. How do you achieve this?

heh forgot to tell yo how to do it...
there are pretty much 2 ways to do....

slowly zoom in while dollying backwards....this will push the back ground back and pull the subject in....its quite simple u just need to practice the motion to get it steady if ure doing it handheld..

or you could do the oposite ...zoom out while pushing in...just play around...ull get it figured out

For this technique to be effective, you have to zoom and dolly at the same rate so that the subject appears at the same perceived point....that's where the practice comes in.
