Zoom "shift"

Has anyone experienced a "zoom shift" w/the 100a? On two different camera's, I have noticed a slight stutter or shift in the frame when doing a slow zoom in or out. It looks like the image very minutely gets bumped in the middle of the zoom.

And... does anyone recommend a good zoom controller... one that actually allows for a smooth feather start and stop?

Maybe it has something to do with the OIS. Turn it off and see if it still does it. The usual suspects in zoom controlling is VariZoom, but SignVideo makes a great zoom controller for much less.

Unlike LANC for sony though, I dont think you can ramp up or down the speed during the zoom on the DVX. I dont own one for my DVX yet but someone chime in if they do.

zoom shift revisited

I got my DVX100AP 3 months ago and it 's been working non-stop. I have noticed the zoom shift you mentioned. It has nothing to do with the OIS setting. It only happens when the servo zoom motors are reversed (ie. going from zoom in to zoom out) If I zoom in and see the shift, stop, then zoom in again, it won't happen. Have you found any resolution to this ? Did the zoom controler help ?
