With Raw on the canons not yet having an good audio track solution I was looking for a better solution than my Zoom H4n to go with my dslr. I was surprised to see this new product which seem to have great specs on paper!

Right now juicedlink riggy is on my sights. Only problem is i dont have a recorder.
Recording audio is a PITA on BMCC.

I've used the H4n for years and recently bought the DR 680 plus a Juicedlink Riggy. the Tascam recorder is soooo much quieter than the H4n plus it has better fidelity. also the Juicedlink unit which i will mostly use when attached to my EX1 or DSLR's directly is also super quiet. wish i would have gotten this better gear long ago. id be surprised if this new Zoom recorder is anything but more features with similar preamps to the H4n. Ugh!

at minimum id use the Juicedlink to bring down the noise on any mediocre recorder.

Yeah, we really need to know where the noise floor is on this recorder as well as how much clean gain we can get out of it. A lot of the rest looks good, but the real question is how it sounds.

Love it. I probably would never use the mic system they have there but I love the knobs way better. Looks like a win to me.

As long as the main unit performs equally as good as the pre-amp and onboard mics of the H4N, I am going to get it once I can sell the H4N.
Knobs plus a colored LCD display make this a good choice, and the ergonomic shape.
Additional mics look silly though.
