Zoom H4n audio question

If anyone knows what the problem is, thanks in advance. I just used the Zoom H4n with my 7D for recording interviews and I've brought it into FCP. I then used PluralEyes to sync up the audio (which is an amazing program by the way).

My problem is that I recorded the audio with a lav mic and it came into channel 1. Well, when I go to copy and paste the same audio into channel 2 in FCP, I only hear the audio coming out of channel 1. I can't figure out how to allow it to duplicate and play in channel 2. Any suggestions?

Solution

I figured out what was wrong. I had brought in the .wav audio files instead of the .aiff files. Everything works just like it should now.

Might I ask why you feel the need to duplicate the audio and "paste it into channel 2?"

When you record split-channel audio, modify it to deselct Stereo Pair. Delete the empty track, and open the remaining audio clip into the viewer window. Use the Pan control to center the audio.

The problem with the copy-and-paste method, aside from the fact that it is much more complicated, is that you can introduce phase cancellation issues on the subframe level, and it's hard to correct that in FCP.
