Zoom H4 Sync Issue?

I was using my Zoom H4 on a documentary shoot and I noticed that after about 20 minutes of recording, it seems like the audio starts to become off sync, starting as just a few frames off and eventually longer. I was shooting with the DVX100B in standard 24p mode and editing in Final Cut Pro in a 29.97 timeline. Do I just have a setting off in the H4, and if so, does anyone know how I would get it to stay in sync?

Thanks for your help.

It's drift Totally normal, and expected for non-sync sound. There's no master clock to keep the camera and the Zoom sampling at the exact same rate, so you have to time-compress the audio just a touch in post to keep it in sync.

Hey,

I'll be doing the same thing. When you say time-compress... how do you do this in Premiere? Set speed to 99.9? I heard that talked about on here... thanks.

Find a cut point somewhere around where sync loss is noticeable and take out a frame. Assuming no major temperature changes the sync loss point should be the same from clip to clip. If you have the time & the original equipment do a simple head and tail slate on a 20 minute run to get the exact drift.

Cheers
