Received my H1 today. Which settings for input level do I have to use? And what setting for Volume? Would you leave low cut filter always activated?
 
well , you have to use the settings that work for you , according the mic you use, the intensity of the source, and what you can see on the display or monitor on the headphones.
knowin the more you push level of the H1, the more unwanted noise you get (usually over 75% means there is a problem somewhere).
for regular use, i do not see why you should use the low cut filter. If really needed , you can still add it in post.
 
The H1 build quality was a bit cheapish, but audio quality is great. I found that the H1 fits inside a Wii (NINTENDO) REMOTE rubber casing ALMOST PERFECT. You may want to trim the top a bit, But if you drop it it will be protected and not hurt it. Other wise Im guessing one good drop could break the h1 fairly easy. Also get the clear one if you do. This way you can still read the buttons on the side.
 
I'm speaking of the internal mic (sorry, I forgot to mention). Standart-setting of levels was 50 as far as I know. Could you upload a picture of that Wii rubbar casing with your H1? ;)

It does not matter what the settings are by factory install. You must adjust the recording level, even using internal mics, based on the amplitude of the source. Use your headphones and watch the meters. If it's too loud, turn it down. If it's too quiet, turn it up. The number on the level adjustment doesn't mean as much as the number on the meters, and your audio should be averaging around -12dB with peaks at -6dB.

One thing I have to say: The internal mics above input level 48 will produce tremendous background noise. So it's almost impossible to get -12dB for athmosphere recording.
