Zombieland

Just saw this. I have to say it was pretty good. Nothing like Shaun of the Dead and not nearly as good.

The critics seem to love it, yet I would give it 6 out of 10. I laughed at times and was slightly impressed with the action. I just could not connect with this film on any level. Woody was great though. The other guy was just another michael cera tyring to do michael cera.

There was some very creative title stuff, video game like. And the celebrity cameo was one of the best I have seen in long long time.

worth checking out but not stellar by any means.

I think I might go see this tonight. Woody Harrelson bustin' up some zombies seems like a guaranteed fun night at the cinema.

I agree with Richard, entertaining flick, but still short of Shaun of the Dead.

That said, I was actually pleasantly surprised with the film, and I found myself laughing a majority of the time.

I'd recommend it.

Shaun of the dead was funny, but this seems like it has more of a mix of comedy with action. Judging by the trailer, Woody destroys a hell of a lot of zombies in very interesting ways.

Also, Hot Fuzz was even more hilarious than Shaun of the Dead.

Zombieland: (paraphrased) "my mother always said 'you'll be good at something', but I don't think she could have guessed that somethin' could be zombie killin'..."

Texas Fortune: (paraphrased) "I'm not good at much... but I'm good at this"...

Both referring to controlling/wrangling/killing zombies...

An homage? I doubt it... but that line sure stood out for me.

I actually had the exact same thoughts on this flick, with every point you mention here, from the title work, to the cameo, and that actor being a Michael Cera character. I laughed, but hardest at the cameo part– that was amazing.

Shaun of the Dead was definitely better, a much more likable story. I didn't really care about these characters very much. +1 for Metallica in the opening title sequence!

I guess it depends on who you are. I mean the main character reminds me of me, just a bit more 'underdogish'. So right away I connect, and I really enjoyed the characters, all of them. Even crazy what's his name (forgot the states they called each other).

But Collorado was pretty cool. I see what you guys say about Micheal Cera, but I saw this actor in Adventureland, and I just feel like he plays awkward characters well. I mean since when does 'awkward' mean Micheal Cera? I didn't watch it and think "oh he's very 'Micheal Cera'" In fact, I think Cera wouldn't have worked for this role. Cera can't play a nerd turned cool zombie killer IMO.

Anyways, I enjoyed it. It was fun. Great celebrity cameo. Very fun and relatable characters (depends on who you are I guess). Great idea about the "list". I feel like I should get a list ready to prep myself, just in case. :)

I just saw it and I was kind of disappointed. But I did not want the movie to end, I could watch zombie killing for hours and I found there was just not as much as I hoped. Shaun of the Dead had way more zombie killing.

Overall I think anyone that has played a zombie video game would like this to happen just once. How cool would it be to be a total badass and mess up zombies all day.... dream big

Rule number one: Cardio

I loved Zombieland, thought it was fantastic. It thought it was more an American version of Shaun of the Dead. The scene with Woody in the carny booth, if it was SotD, it would have ended way differently. I still thought the movie was great, and BM was incredible.

I loved Zombieland to death, seen it twice actually (mostly because I took a different girl the 2nd time).

I think Woody played the part perfectly, and the reference to rednecks was quite funny as well. Also loved the titles constantly interacting within the movie, and lastly... the opening sequence was beautiful.

Could have retitled as 'L4D: Zombieland' and be the best game adapted movie since Mortal Kombat. I cannot think of honorable mentions except Silent Hill and I've run dry already.
