Zombie blood test grabs

Well I tested blood and brain matter today as well as some sound checks at various distances using a performance mic. Nothing special just some blood on an arm and in a bowl. These were shot in squeeze mode(I hope I got that right) and 24pa.

I'm not sure why they are not showing up yet. Still working on it. Ah because I uploaded them via ftp they were not showing up. I had to use frontpage to upload them?

aren't we not supposed to show anything of our movie before the contest due date?
just wondering.

These are not part of the movie just blood mixture tests. I just wanted to get a decent looking blood mixture and do some sound checks today. Tomorrow I am shooting some rifles and shotguns to record some sound effects. I was looking for some opinions on the look of the blood without color correction. I used today as a test day in prep for some shooting later in the week. Its all new to me but I'm having some fun with it.

We are experimenting with different wound mixes. The blood is the standard corn syrup and food color. We tried some Elmers glue variations on the wounds without much success. I'm not sure what the arm wound was mix wise. My daughter put it together. I may have to break down and order some latex if we can't come up with some acceptable looking wounds.

I like the blood coloration - the only change I would make is add a little more darkness to it, right now it seems a little too bright and red for my tastes - although there really is no wrong to it, just personal taste...

Actually looking at it again, it really looks realistic, but I just like my blood darker. So actually I guess there's nothing to change

what did you use for the blood? If its karo and red food coloring, I have been told that you should put a few drops of blue food coloring in it to help darken it a bit.

ops, sorry, I just read about your blood mixture, so yeah, try adding a couple drops of blue to the mix, and see how you like it.

Thanks. It actually has blue in it as well as some cocoa, laundry detergent and anything we could scrounge to try and darken it. It started off as way to pinkish purple. We added the blue and then the cocoa, we didn't have Karo(Wally World was out) so we used a generic corn syrup that wasn't as thick. That may have contributed to the problem.

Its an anchovie egg colony(just kidding). Its obviously a blood mix soaked califlower.

bloood soaked cauliflower does indeed look like brain huh?
now all you need is a steroid pumped, genetically modified, brain size cauliflower!
nice!

t

actually chocolate syrup helps a lot with making fake blood more realistic. yeah blood from the body is darker, from the head is brighter. right?

Is the blood and guts making anyone else see spots or is that a spotted sheet in the background? Please tell me so I know whether or not to lay down.

Those are crop circles(lMAO). I am beginning to realize just how much work is involved in this little five minute project. Original sound effects, original music, make-up,location,lighting and bad acting. Add to that props, stunts, special effects and storyboarding. All of which I have no experience with. I am caught up in it and I can't stop now. Today was the first time I've ever put my dvx in squeeze mode. I have an outline but no real script yet, I'm hoping to storyboard my outline this week.(I promise not to post my scribbles).

Thanks everyone for the help on the blood and the overall support for the ZombieFest and dvx newbies like me. I ain't promising nothing special but I will give it a solid effort. I look forward to seeing all your entries, good luck to all.
