Zissou Colour

These two shots are from the movie "The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou" from the scene where they are reviewing the footage they shot. It's 41 minutes into Part 1 if you're interested. Great movie if you haven't seen it. But I think the shot just looks amazing. It's hard to explain. The vibrant and rich colors really good. Bleach bypass? If anyone has any ideas for a scene file I'd love to hear what you think. If I ever find out I'll share my scene files, but I'm testing for now.

its a great movie haha. Wes Anderson is one of my favorite directors. This looks to me like a really clean looking 8mm typr footage. Idk, maybe it's just my eyes, but i feel like 8mm footage got that bright "bleachy" look to it, especially when you shoot outside on a bright sunny day. You could prob do something like this with some tweaking and time in Magic Bullet lol. Cheers.

That scene you're reffering to was shot on Ektachrome film, which kodak has now discontinued since June.

Research more on Ektachrome, and play around with some saturation and curves if you have to!

Kodachrome is now gone... Ektachrome is still available at B&H. I tried to get kodachrome for my Super8 and it is all expired.

Saturation and contrast will be your friends there. Up the chroma and lower the master ped. Some additional work in post will help, too.
