Zhiyun Crane

Quick question guys (and I apologize if this has been covered, I just got my Crane today and have searched some for this answer - anyways...)

I'm shooting on an a7s and a 5D mk3. The 1200g firmware seems sufficient for most a7s shooting combos, whereas the 5D3 will almost always require the heftier 1800g firmware.

Do I need to switch back and forth on which firmware I have loaded on the Crane when I switch cameras? If so, is there a quick way to do it? Is there a way to quickly check which firmware is currently loaded on the gimbal?

Right now I installed 1.52, so I'm curious if that is good for all situations with these two cameras or if (as I read in some places) you are better off using the old firmware with lighter configurations.

Love the crane, but the documentation could stand to be a lot better!

Posted this in the NEX group so sorry if this is considered a double post but I just got the crane and took it to the March for Science on the Space Coast of Florida. I absolutely love this thing! It's even easier to use than I expected. There are still a few kinks I need to work out, mostly technique, but here's some footage if anyone wants to check it out. I shot with an a6300 and Zeiss 24mm f1.8

That looked great.

Can you share your a6300 camera settings gamma curves colour setting etc...?

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks! I just shot s-log 2 and graded in FCPX. I usually bring up the saturation in the mids but desaturate the highlights and shadows a bit to give it a more natural look.

I'm not going to talk about camera or technique concerning your video.
I just wanted to say that I think you did a great job with that. Could easily have been a boring subject to look at. Not the case.
You got a lot of great moments and I just wanted to keep on looking. Nice one.

Thank you yoclay! That's the nicest thing anyone's said about my videos. It's a subject I care a lot about so I'm glad you liked it.

it seem they use an 26500 battery, i like they old 18650 battery. it can be found in any store.
I cant find 26500 battery in my country :(

I've never exhausted a single set of batteries of the original Crane even when shooting all day. Zhiyun states a pair of 18650(s) will power the gimbal for six hours, & they claim the new batteries in the upgraded Crane are good for 12 hours, so I doubt there's much to worry about.

But the main reason I chimed is to warn you that not all 18650 batteries work in the original Crane. Bought some quality high drain versions & the positive terminal was flush instead of raised so did not work.

Ditto, I have never killed a set of batteries while using the Crane, the battery consumption is kind of a marvel of efficiency.

How long the 18650 battery life for recharging?

for the cametv single I have is using lipo, recharging life is so bad.

apparently they now have a quick release plate built in and the handle is shorter. bummed i couldn't find them, but oh well.
