Zeiss: ZF.2 or Contax?

Guys,

I am wanting to get some good primes for my AF100. For those of you have Contax primes is there any reason not to skip the higher prices of the ZF.2 and just get a Zeiss Contax set?

Thanks!

You can get great Contax primes for much less & they focus the right way. Super happy with mine.

Get the Novoflex, and don't believe people who say the cheap adapters are fine. Not in my experience anyway... I think the wides are distagons and the others planars.

+1, don't mess with cheapo adapters, they'll bite you eventually. So can someone here be a bit more specific about exactly what lenses we're talking about here, perhaps with links? Thanks!

I have the 85/1.4, 50/1.4 and 28/2.8. The 18/4 is also great, but generally quite a bit more. Complement that with a Tokina 11-16 and a Nokton 25/.95 and you're sorted.

Ah! Very nice, you won't go wrong with contax and those prices are great in comparison. Since all of these lenses are designed for still cameras that resolve much more detail, I have no doubt any of those lenses will look fantastic with the af100.

Well, these were shot on GH1, but you're not going to be disappointed with the image on these lenses. The difference between these lenses and, say, the 14-140, is night and day.

I really like my Zeiss ZF 85mm. Its fast and super sharp. Its not the ZF 2, so I got a better deal on it used. I would love to have a 35mm ZF as well.

Thank you all for your input.

I made up my mind and I purchased a Contax/Zeiss 35mm f2.8 and 50mm f1.4!

Now I am looking for a good deal on a Contax 85mm 1.4 and possibly a 25mm f.2.8.
