Zeiss Milvus primes for Canon and Nikon mounts

They seem to be the old ZE/ZF primes, rehoused with a new look, and maybe new coatings and things like that. If this is the case, the exception would be the 50mm f/1.4, which is a new design (different shape, different number of elements/groups).

This is what they currently have in ZE for Canon EF. The full five piece set is ~ $6,000 at B&H.

  • 21mm f/2.8 Lens
  • 28mm f/2 Lens
  • 35mm f/2 Lens
  • 50mm f/1.4 Lens

Like a lot about these, except the name!

sounds like "Milhouse Primes"

Or or something disgusting...

"the worst part of the frog dissection in lab class was inspecting the Milvus"

These look great! Like the de-clicked aperture feature while still being able to use the electronic features for exposure like aperture priority. Crazy cool they can do this. Best of both worlds. Add an adapter for Sony E Mount and this is a workhorse lens for both Canon and NEX.

"...these lenses are made with 4K in mind(it means smooth and noiseless aperture and focus ring)."

I'm pretty sure that's NOT what "made with 4K in mind" means. But then again… Hell, I guess I'll put my old c. 1997 Canon 18x Pro SD lens on eBay and advertise it as "Made with 4K in mind". How much you think I can get for it? Any offers, here?

haha, yeah because for FHD who would need that?! :D

Zeiss is probably the only lens manufacturer that puts effort in design. They're beautiful

The Canon version doesn't have an iris ring. As I said, except for the 50mm f/1.4, these seem to be a (very nice!) rehousing of the ZE/ZF primes; as with those, you want to get the Nikon version and adapt them to Canon and NEX (which is a pain, because either you use two consecutive adapters, which will probably mean you end up heavily misaligned, or you have to take out the Nikon-to-Canon adapter relatively often, which is the kind of think I'd wish on my worst enemies).
