FS7: Zeiss CP.2 lenses native e mount or PL to e mount adaptor?

Hi all expecting an FS7 delivery tomorrow as a replacement for an F3.

First decision is what to do about mounting our CP.2s. We have a 15, 21, 50 makro and 100CF all currently in PL mount. Cost aside do you guys reckon the best way would be to replace the PL mounts on the lenses with the Zeiss e mounts or to get a decent PL to e mount adapter? I already have an amount for the 21 mm but not for the rest.

Importantly at the moment we still need to be able to use the Zeiss' on our other F3 which is to be retained as a B camera although in due course we may be able to replace that with a second FS7 which is why i am swaying towards the adaptor on the FS7.

The other options to get eos mounts for the CP.2s and an eos to e mount adapter. Decisions decisions.

Any considered opinions welcome.

That's the way I am swaying at the moment FFM. However we get into that other minefield of which rig will accommodate the support - I like my cameras as minimal as possible but will need to be able to mount rods for a FF, I like the Zacuto recoil for balancing but don't see that the PL support will fit on the rods on that rig as the camera body is back past where the rods start.

I had considered going with an unsupported PL adapter like the Vocas or Solid Camera (if he's got any left) and using a separate lens support further along the lens rather than right under the adapter. Its a minefield when you get a new body eh?

Just to throw a money wrench in here. How much does it cost to convert , and back again? Weigh that against getting them in Canon or Nikon mt and getting a speed booster . Gives your lenses tremendous flexibility. Another reason to go that way would be to get an adapter for the F3 as well. E mt won't let you go to F3. No point in going to E mt at all .

+1 for getting a Nikon or Canon mount, then having the option to mount them either directly to an e-mount/Nikon or Canon adapter, or via a Speedbooster (which will make all of your CP.2s effective superspeeds.

I've just invested in a pair of Zeiss Compact Zooms, and now I really want to find a way to get a Speedbooster on to the F5 so that I can have a pair of compact T/2 zooms. The FS7 makes doing that easy.

The flange focal distance of the FZ mount is 18mm as is the E-mount.

Metabones already said it's possible, but it does not seem attractive economically to them...

The Wooden Camera PL mount with support looks a lot more solid to me that hanging a CP or other big lens off the E-Mount...

And it's an easy switch with the F3

The WC top plate with the holes for the grip sounds like a very good idea. That isolates the lens support from any stress that may occur from a handle that is also attached to the top plate.

Camera's here, I have ordered the Vocas PL to E adaptor with support, going to keep the lenses as PL mount. Now just debating the rods mount, probably going to go for the Vocas compact.
