I've got most of my lenses covered but this just showed up in a store. I just wondered if anyone has been using one with an adapter. It's cheap so its not like I need it but it might be fun. The macro function is great (checking it with an slr).

Both the 60 and the 100mm macros are very good lenses. I don't know what you mean by "cheap" as they tend to fetch fairly good bucks. Best to ask if it can be returned if something is amiss.

oh I mean it's for sale cheap in the store. I've been getting a lot of Contax stuff at this proshop as people are dumping it to go digital. The price for the quality of glass can't be beat and my Canon SLR loves them.

i got my 60mm makro about a month ago, images are amazing, couldn't ask for more, I have not tried the 100mm makro, but with the 60mm, it gets the job done. Can you define cheap for me?

How cheap? I'll tell you if its a good deal.

As for the review:

Sharp, Nice big barrel, can still be fully turned from MFD to infinity with Redrock FF (or others with wide drive gear) and a 360 ring (like Shoot35), Focuses down to literally 2 or 3" in front of the front element. Silky smooth if you find a good one, handles flare well thanks to T* and distortion/falloff free. I have used this lens on a Redrock, Brevis, and SGPro. Great results. I don't show up to set without it. Its a regular on Music videos, product commercials, and anything with tight focus racks.

The 100mm is always typically more expensive. Wish they were F2.0 similar to ZF series Makros but we can't have everything i guess. Only complaints are weight and barrel size if you like something compact (I prefer its size over the 50mm). Can't say yet how it compares in sharpness to the Zeiss 50 but given it is configured on an adapter, I'd say they are virtually the same. Better MFD than either of the ZF Makros but one stop slower as I mentioned. Just as sharp too from what I have observed but my testing only involves eyeballing one Makro and then popping the other on. I'm trying to get charts to really see how they fare.

EDIT: actually disregard that review. They are all outdated and should not be purchased. Look for a sigma instead and leave all Zeiss glass quietly in the corner.

went and got the lens today. Its a 60mm 2.8 not a "c" so it macros down to 1:1 instead of just 1:2. It's amazing extended all the way.$200 with a 139 Quartz that I'll give to a friend that heading back to shooting film. Love the used priced on the Contax stuff

I got it for even cheaper...

One guy at work today said he wanted to get rid of some stuff.

Scored a S-planar 2.8 60mm. a makro planar 2.8 60mm and the contax zeiss 1.4 85mm.

Need to treat him lunch next week :)
