Zebra? What is zebra?

I hope people arn't getting sick of me yet. I am wondering if anyone can give me an idea of what the zebra is, why you use it, and when it should be used. Thanks for putting up with me, hopefully I will have a better grasp of the camera in the next few days. thanks everyone.

Re: Zebra? What is zebra?

I wrote a "treatise" on zebras here recently... do a search and you should find gobs of information.

Re: Zebra? What is zebra?

Whatever you do, remember not to stretch the Giraffe too much.

The control for Tiger is very sensitive and should be left in the factory preset position.

The Owl is best for shooting in low light conditions... even better than a PD-150!

However, the main thing to watch is the Anaconda levels because they'll bite you in the butt if set improperly.

Good luck... it's a jungle out there! ;)

Re: Zebra? What is zebra?

Take it easy Blanket

The ZEBRA is used to check for HOT SPOTS or OVER EXPOSURE.  When selecting it you will see "Zebra stripes" in the Blow Outs (Such as the sky, a white building and even skin)

When exposing, EXPOSE for HIGHLIGHTS.  So, if you are worried the exposure is not correct, hit the ZEBRA button for some guidance.

Use the IRIS to adjust and you'll see more ZEBRAS appear or ZEBRAS will start to go away.

You'll get used to the sarcasm and play around here in time BUT PLEASE don't start cursing at people. :P

Re: Zebra? What is zebra?

Does the frequency of my posts really irritate you that much?

Barry gave you all the advice you need so I was just giving some comic relief.

BTW, I'm editing 2 videos even whilst we speak.

1. American Taekwondo Association (ATA) Q2 - Business DVD

and

2. Martial Arts Industry Association (MAIA) monthly DVD

I'm shooting a multi-camera soccer game tomorrow. Saturday I'll be shooting some boring car commercials for a local Dodge dealership.

Next Tuesday through Friday I'll be directing Mike Chat of XMA (Xtreme Martial Arts) fame for his instructional DVDs.

I have several more things lined up including a feature that you'll be hearing about on this website.

Actually, I thought your remark about the monkey filter was hilarious!
