I just got my dvx100p
when you use the zebra button, do you leave it on the entire time while you are recording. Or do you just use it to check then turn it off before recording.
Thanks

Re: Zebra button

its really up to you.. If you are seeing Zebras that means whatever is behind them is gonna be blown out (depending on what you set your zebras at) so it doesnt really matter if its on or off since its not really "blocking" any detail. those Zebras are not recorded to tape, but some people get all distracted by the zebra pattern.

For me, if I am doing dramatic or scripted camerawork, where the cameras is more or less locked off (doesnt pan/zoom etc) then I will leave them off, maybe check them on a different lighting setup then turn them off. But when going handheld, I either leave them on and do a walk through to check different exposures, or leave them on all the time.

Re: Zebra button

Thanks, that's what I was getting at. I knew the concept behind the zebra stripes but I wasn't sure if it recorded the lines to the tape

Re: Zebra button
