Well it's been shipping for a little while I believe but have not seen many real reviews. Coffey sound and trew have some info, but YouTube has same ole stuff from its announcement. Are there any new intensive reviews out there or anyone on here have one? Thanks.

You need to hang out over at jwsoundgroup.net in their Equipment section. TONS of info on the Nomads from there.

Worth mentioning...
Zaxcom tends to pull the same stuff RED just did as far as expecting their customers to keep "hush hush" with problems.
I'm in no way saying there are problems/issues with the Nomad but it's worth saying that "if" there are problems you're not going to hear about it
as easily.

Just MY opinion.

Okay thank you I'll check out that site. I did hear about keeping issues out but as long as they fix the problems in a reasonable timeframe I can be somewhat understanding. Thank you again!

Not to mention their wait time is silly. I want when I want when Im paying top dollar for a product. So i went Sound Devices. Tried andn true and available now.

Pardon my lack of knowledge with Zaxcom, but how do their pres compare to SD stuff? I probably won't ever get Zaxcom, but I'm just curious.

I have never played with any Zaxcom gear to compare, but from everything I have read about them the pres are just as quiet. And they supposedly don't have the rf spray issue that some wireless devices have with the SD stuff...

Also I've heard sd recorders get really hot while the nomad stays cool to the touch. And the extreme dynamic range by dual adc's supposedly makes clipping nearly impossible on the nomad. I think this will probably put the screws on sd to come out with something to compete.

The SD recorders that have hard drives in them do run hot, the 702 and 702T dont. And yea, Im hoping Zaxcom scares SD a bit and they come out with something better and cheaper! Product competition is good for the consumer!

i've had my nomad since early november. Its been a pretty kick ass machine. and no problems with it after about 18 shoot days with it.

however i did recently do a RF test scan with it and my SRa units. block 21 had a good bit of RF, but i have had no problems with reception or hits.

Quality of preamps isn't exactly on par since many folks use SD preamps for everything from prod. sound to the recording studio world, but you would NEVER have to worry about clipping your inputs ever again on the Nomad and possibly future products from them unless you're recording at a military test site.

The Nomad gives the 788T a serious 2nd look. Then again, I use SD stuff almost everyday that requires serious transparentness and field abuse. Ryan, if you were looking for a simple 4-track ISO recorder in addition to a 10-track input mixer you know the answer.
