To top Liams diabetes video (for sluggish charity agenda styling and instant boredom).. here is some of my zambian stuff..

Marco, director producer, david soundie, moi and amon the driver, stuffed into the poorly named Toyota Spacio.

Kit Fs7, 24-105, booster, 70-200, stick and two small panels.

Oh yee nikon d850 and two tamron zooms for a big wad of stills. And a little grey drone thing that marco flew, those things scare me.

Sweet, at least there's some help there. I'm getting asked more and more on foreign shoots to go solo, yet they still want primes, drone gimbal etc... ...madness.

Anyway, nice doc.

Oddly the Spec of the job was..
4k camera, no DSLR
seperate sound(ie?)
three point light setup

(!)

I guess they wanted to exclude the kids?

Personally I would not go solo but technically we could lose the soundie IMO. He's a real charmer though and we have to have some sense of presense and security I guess.
I would not want to be solo on such a job.
Marco spent loads of time on the phone setting it all up ("sorry we have been held up by the minister") while I was basically shooting Broll - so producer/shooter would not have worked. He also got releases and all sorts of tedia nailed.

We are really interested in the new Panny or XF705 - I wonder how much the look would degrade.

On my last trip we did one really nice bit in a school and I had to resort to my 'emergency' 50 1.4 nikkor - a one inch would have probably be dead in there. (although we could take a Gh4/5 for lowlight/backup)

I also shot a few clips on the D850, just because it was what I had in my hand. I think they are OK.

I'm thinking long and hard about a few jobs I have in my diary... I've been in so many situations which could have gone tits up and my missus is convinced my luck will run out soon enough. Luckily, I have some crewed jobs coming up too, so it's not all bad. A couple of refugee camps and one of the world's largest slums on the planet then I'll be back on easy street.

Nope Marco does that and Id say is good although im tryng to get him to go lower and do more 'jib' shots.. like I said the thing freaks me out.. kids, wires, dogs, water, officials

Haha - they're quite easy once you realise they won't fall out of the sky and if you look at where you are going you won't hit anything.
