zacuto mini vs universal baseplate for af-100

I will be using this primarily for the af-100 setup. I know the universal will carry over to larger cameras but how do you think the mini base plate will work with the af-100? Abel cine has it listed under af-100 accessories.

I think that the mini would not fully support the camera along its full length.

Which is why i bought the universal one.

I've been using the mini with my EX1 with no problems but bigger cant hurt either. Merry Christmas everyone..

I have both the mini and universal and its really just about what you plan to mount and stress you want to put on the mini given that it only has one "locking" area on the rails. I have used the mini with two zacuto arms mounted to the same side, one holding a zylight z90 and the other holding a SmallHD 6" with battery and it was fine. No flexing or slipping that I could tell. But if you can only have one base, spend the extra $80-100 and get the universal because it is more flexible for the future...

I, too, have both of the Zacuto base plates. I use the mini on the AF100 and have encountered no problems attaching a Zacuto DoubleMount and Redplate as well as a TV Logic monitor and follow focus unit to it.

Thank you, guys.

WBrock, what do you mean when you say it only has one "locking" area on the rails? I was under the impression you could lock whatever you wanted onto the rails as long as you had room to slide it on there.

Thank you.

I use the full size Zacuto baseplate under the AF100, and then mount an Allstar dovetail baseplate with 19mm rods under that when needed.

Thank you, guys.

Oh, I just meant the screw tightener holding the rails into the mini mount. That just means all the stress is on those two points instead of 4 on the universal. It hasn't proven to be a problem for me yet. No slippage of any kind has occurred.
