I'm not telling you to "shut up". Rather, I'm pointing out that there are several people biting their tongues trying not to get bogged down in this thread. I know because I'm one of them.

Furthermore, if you've read enough renegade threads on here recently then you know there are plenty more who feel the same.

If you're going to throw paragraph after paragraph of an extremely sensitive topic out there for our perusal, then you should expect to encounter opposing views.

As far as your zingy little comment about my 'open mind'... If you don't stand for something you'll fall for anything.

Don't put you and your 'open mind' on such a high pedestal.

As a former Cincinnati denizen who's never seen the Reds lose (I guess I just picked the right games to attend), I say "hoo-ya!"

Ok, let's agree to disagree. I may have gotten my hackles up over the comments about "whiney liberals" and the comment that there are lots of folks here who disagree with you" which sounded like a threat of shut up because we don't want to hear your garbage. I know there are whiney liberals out there, I've heard them. I like to think of myself as a moderate. I apologize for sounding high and mighty. I expect opposing views because that's what this thread is about. Hey if we didn't disagree on some things then it would be a boring world.

On a factual sidenote, I was talking with my Marine younger brother, who was on the tip of the spear at the beginning of the war, and will be shipping back over to Iraq in a matter of a couple weeks.

He made a point very clear to me. Abu Ghraib (the prison).. is a prison of murderers. This is not the place they keep the looters and low-level criminals. This is the holding tank of those who killed and maimed our soldiers. Who plotted to blow up our marines.

The fact that all the liberals are whining about "human rights" and all this other BS is a full on joke. Consider the context. These are the epitome of evil humans being held there. The fact that a few soldiers took some humerous pictures of the soldiers is probably not nice. They should be punished in the ranks of the military by protocol. I'm so sick of the liberals using it as ammo. Good grief.

Bottom line: Abu Ghraib is full of islamic hardened killers who hate america and everyone associated with it. They should be so lucky that we don't just nuke em.

I have also heard that the fella they beheaded was done well in advance of the release of these pics to the public. What does that mean?? Well.. The alphabet box is lying to us as usual telling us it was in retaliation for the prisoner so called abuse.

Again.. WE admittedly dont torture prisoners.. So we do everything but.. What does that encompass?? Use your immagination. Dont I stay LOYAL to my family (country) no matter what?? In my world.. In others they have twisted visions of morality and right and wrong. What you say is true and not true. I've heard stats that say 60-80% of prisoners under US detention were caught up in sweeps looking for bad guys and intelligence and not necessatily hardened killers. I ran across this story from the AP. Here's a section:


"Judge Donald Campbell, senior adviser to the coalition-established interim justice ministry, said 25 percent of current detainees had been released last year.

In Saddam's time, Abu Ghraib housed political prisoners, including those suspected of spying for Iran or the United States. But it was also home to hardened murderers, thieves and drug runners.

"Most of these men were criminals. They used to kill each other in jail for money," said Hamid Abbas, a former Abu Ghraib guard.

Iraqis convicted of minor crimes were horrified when told they would be sharing cells with "the worst of the worst criminals," Clark said."

So you see to characterize everybody in Abu Ghraib as american hating killers in not correct. Were some of them bad guys who should never see the light of day. Heck yes! What disturbs me about your post is "They should be so lucky that we don't just nuke em." Wasn't the reason we invaded Iraq was to liberate it?

If I know KAI (virtually anyway) I assure you his use of the word NUKE is not literally "TURN IRAQ INTO A WATERPARK".

But I think the U.S. should not be playing games with these insurgents, terrorists, islamic radicals or bathe (sp) regime. I think they should go Shock and Awe all over again until there is nothing left.

Buddy, pal, amigo you're rambling some. I get your basic point, that you love American and you think that liberals are disloyal scum who are undermining our military. I won't try to lie and say that there aren't some folks who are playing politics on the left side, but we also know people on the right are too. I appreciate loyalty, but blind loyalty can be a bad thing. Now, I'm going to use an extreme example that's going to piss you off, but I've been shooting all day and am too tired to come up with a less inflamitory one, so I apologize upfront for using this, but I need something to illustrate my point.

Ok here we go, Nazi Germany (I can here the groans now, sorry again), here was a country that was run by blind loyalty with everybody in lock step. The start invading lots of countries and killing a lot of people in the process. We can all agree that this is a bad thing, right? Ok, some german insiders put together a plan to kill Hitler and they came mighty close to doing it. (Please do not read this as I'm proposing blowing up our President, I most difinetly am not. I'd like to see him voted out because I don't like the job he's doing and I should point out that there are some conservatives are not happy with him either.) Here's my question, are these failed assassins traitors or heroes? History is written by the victors, so we get to say they are heroes.

Liberals, and I know you're going to lump me in with them, disagree with the course our President has taken with our country, so they point out the problems. It's part of our democratic process and guarenteed by our consititution. Are some of them pushing the limits, but using infamitory language like the US has re-opened Saddam's Torture prison and run them the same way. That just ain't true. Yes there's been torture, but it is nowhere near the same levels of Saddam. (I mean Saddam was 98% worse.)

The beheading of Nick Berg makes me sick to my stomach and makes my blood boil. I'd like to see very bad things happen to ths guys who did it, but I'm not proposing nuking Iraq.

What I'm saying is loyalty is good, but blind loyalty is bad. Support the troops, I do, but don't do it blindly. If they do bad things, we have bring them to justice. They sully the names of all they serve with and all who have gone before.

I wish "we" didnt have to rely on the middle east oil. Saddam had to go though; if even to prove a point. Dude was mocking us. Bush is an idiot. Kerry is an idiot. ****, maybe I should run for president. It's another round of "Lesser of Two".
